Book Description

June 8, 2006
Susannah and Trinny can tell how you feel about yourself by how you dress. You may not necessarily be dressing badly, just stuck in a 'look' - and knowing how to change that can help you move forward and be who you would like to be. This book shows how to project yourself in a positive way through your clothes. It shows how to re-tune your appearance so that you can tell the world you are who you want to be. When you look different you will act different, when you act different you will feel different.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hit or Miss, August 27, 2006
This review is from: What Your Clothes Say About You (Paperback)
This book is divided into about twelve chapters. Each chapter has a "theme", and the theme is a specific type of style problem. For example, one is a woman who says that she doesn't have time for herself now that she has kids. Trinny and Susannah suggest clothes that are practical and flattering, a make-up routine that can be done in five minutes and they also suggest some "life tips" like making time for yourself. They show a "before" picture of what shouldn't be worn in the situation, and an "after" picture of a suggested outfit.

The problem is that usually only one, or two at most, chapters will apply to you since such a broad range of problems are covered. A lot of the advice is assuming that you are stuck in the exact steriotypical rut that they are describing, so it isn't very flexible. And if you are stuck in a rut of not caring about or having time for clothes, chances are you wouldn't even pick this book up in the first place. The people who are looking to improve their wardrobes by using books don't need convincing that clothes matter, which is about half of what this book is. If you are pretty sure that you are stuck in a rut but aren't sure how to get out, it might be worth a shot. Otherwise, I would give it a miss.

2.0 out of 5 stars More Real Life Than Other Books, February 21, 2008
This review is from: What Your Clothes Say About You (Paperback)
Pros:

* Good to see real people with real life style issues and how they overcame them.
* I was able to identify with some of these women and fix up some of my
own weaknesses in style.

Cons:

* Too many different examples. I just want someone who's like me and see how they improved their style.

* I'd like to see the promotion of more natural fashion fabrics and
non-toxic beauty products.
