About the Author

Linda Bevilacqua is the president of the Core Knowledge Foundation and was responsible for the development of the Core Knowledge preschool program that is now being used in over 1,200 preschool classrooms across the country. She and her husband, Jean-Jacques, live in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Susan Tyler Hitchcock is the author of 13 nonfiction books, most recently Frankenstein: A Cultural History (W.W. Norton, 2007). She works as a book editor for the National Geographic Society.

I am a stay home mom who wanted to prepare her child for Kindergarten. A friend let me borrow What Your Preschooler Needs to Know and I loved it. So I had to have a copy of my own for my younger son. I saw the activity books and was hooked! All the books are age appropriate and my sons sing the songs and poems all day as they play! I do suggest getting all three books because it flows a little easier.

After writing that Activity Book 1 was creative but elementary, I am happy with Book 2. My son is only 3 and is very curious and excited to learn. He enjoys doing the pages and reading the corresponding pages in the Read Along. I like how it has the writing, science, history and math, things I don't think preschools really get into. It also continues his matching, counting and rhyming skills.

If you loved the first Activity Book in this series, then you'll love this one too. It carries on and develops the same concepts and increases the difficulty slowly. This book focuses more on the alphabet and numbers and has pages that allow the child to do writing strokes and the alphabet. It also has some early math. It also has science pages and pages that allow the child to learn how to tell stories, etc. My daughter loves to learn using this book. I would recommend it to any young child who loves to learn.
