5.0 out of 5 stars What About Heaven
This is a comforting book for all ages; I am a 46-year-old grandmother. My grandchildren lost their great-grandmother (my Mother died August 4, 2000). My daughter purchased this book from the Christian bookstore in our town because my 3 1/2 year old grandson is having a very difficult time over the loss of his Nanny. This book immediately comforted my 6-year-old...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find the right message
I do like the way this book ties the individual scriptures into the book. It is nicely illustrated and has a sweet, loving message. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a book just right for helping my four year old daughter understand the death of her twin brother. I think I am looking for something more concrete and children's books about heaven tend to be pretty...

5.0 out of 5 stars What About Heaven, January 2, 2001

Denise Faust (South Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
This book immediately comforted my 6-year-old granddaughter. I read the book to them and noted the 3 1/2 year old seemed less angry about the Heaven deal and less resistant to any reference of Heaven. The book helped him in that he began asking, "Where is Nanny?" He had not asked about her at all. He is still slowly coming out with his feelings. When asked what he was getting for Christmas, he replied," I need to go to Heaven and check on Nanny." This may seem like a strange comment, it is not. It shows how much she is still on his mind after 4 1/2 months and that before reading the book to him he didn't know what to say to get his feelings out. Hopefully reading the book to him again will help him realize he can't go there now, he will have to wait. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THIS BOOK. I cry every time I read this little book. It is such a simple comfort, so plain and explains all I have ever believed about Jesus, death, dying and heaven along with scripture references to back up my beliefs. I read excerpts from the book to introduce it to a hospice support group I attended for coping with loss during the holidays. They raved about the book. I purchased Maria Shriver's book "What's Heaven?". I rate her book a "1" compared to the "5" I gave "What about Heaven?" and would have in fact given it a "10".

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavenly!, March 24, 2000
This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
My kids love this book! This is a sweet and rhythmic book that answers children's questions about heaven based on scripture (the scripture is in the back). The words are lovely and comforting and paint a beautiful picture of heaven. The illustrations are bright and friendly. I recommend this book to anyone with young children or to anyone who has ever suffered the loss of a loved one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done, June 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
I applaude the author and her desire to keep this a faith based book. I have been disappointed in other books by well known authors who didn't teach the truth about heaven they just made up feel good scenarios. I think a child can be most comforted with the facts, they are more glorious than anything we could make up. The book is beautifully done.
I try to keep an eye out for Christian grief material for children and adults because I teach grief classes. I do recommend this book and a video I...
I wish the best to this author and thank her for her work. I know her book will help families and especially children who are grieving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inquisitive About Heaven?, July 13, 2002
This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
For little ones inquisitive about Heaven, "What About Heaven?" is a great place to begin to answer the question.

Kathleen Bostrom and Elena Kucharik team up to put Heaven in terms and pictures a child will relate to. They keep it simple, but never water it down.

Wonderful watercolors by Kucharik frame the charming outline what Heaven really is all about. It'll be more than sleepy bedtime reading as you'll hear your kids beg to hear it again, as they dream.

I fully recommend "What About Heaven?" by Kathleen Bostrom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and helpful, August 26, 2000

This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
This is a book all parents need to read for themselves and then read to their children. Too many books about heaven have no biblical basis or give wrong impressions. This book is just about everything a parent needs to know to explain heaven and the biblical concept of it to their children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!!, January 1, 2008
This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
I had a child who had cancer, and was not doing well. We were told to be prepared. I had been looking for a book about heaven. I fould this book ,and it had everything that I had been praying for. I read it to my children, they found comfort in it. When my daughter passed away, her little brother brought me this book , and asked to read it to him. He knew where his sister was. I have shared this book with many others, young, old, healthy, and ill. They all have loved this little book with a great, and comforting message.

This review is from: What about Heaven? (Little Blessings) (Hardcover)
My children love this book! I have two boys recently learned about the sky, weather, and the planets at daycare. My 4 year old asked where heaven fit into the world and this book was a perfect explanation! The pictures are colorful and the verse is fun to read. I liked the specific descriptions of heaven such as eating a wonderful feast. We have many of Ms Bostrom's books and enjoy them all!
