I thoroughly enjoy the career aspect of Sims (Open for Business being my favorite Sims 2 EP), so Ambitions suits me just fine, but I'd like to see what other players and fans would like to see for future Sims 3 EPs?
I would love to see something similar to Nightlife. I think there needs to be areas in the game where sims can go have some fun. I know there are parks and some "juice bars" around the towns but there isn't much to do at any of those places. I'd like to have places I could have my sims visit for more fun and interaction. Anything to put some fun into this game would be a huge plus. It's gotten too boring for me.
I agree with C. Allen. An expansion pack similar to "Hot Date" or "Nightlife" would be great. Also, I'd really like to see an expansion similar to "Unleashed" ("Pets" didn't really offer much except for pets). It would have been nice to have a proper Vacation-esque expansion pack, but they really ruined it with "World Adventures," and I doubt they'll be exploring that idea again. "Seasons" was also a really interesting expansion pack, so something that adds seasonal changes would be terrific. There are just so many different ideas I'd like to see, it's hard to pick one.
I really have a want for pets, and I'm not aware why- but it seemed to be my favorite of the sims 2 expansions packs- and I think with these new graphics coming with the sims 3 the animals could look amazing- but maybe they could just mix it in with something else to make the pack more explosive? I'd love to see some pet-loving traits or maybe the possibility to interact with wild animals or something. A Zoology career, too perhaps?
Did you know you can have snow or rain if you have Ambitions? I saw a post about this on Simprograms.com but I didn't get too into it because it sounds kind of involved. Anyway, it has something to do with the new fog emitter in Ambitions. There is supposed to be code for rain and snow in it and there are instructions on how to make it appear. There were photos of a sim outside with snowflakes all around. I don't know if snow will "pile up" and I doubt that sims will get cold but I'm not sure, like I said, I didn't get too far into it.
If you're interested, check Simprograms.com or maybe the official forum. I don't usually go to the official forum because it takes so long to load and even longer to sort through the junk on there. Anyway, sounds like the code is there and they are probably planning to turn this feature on for everyone in an upcoming expansion. Who knows?
Thus far I've been a little disappointed with the game play in Sims 3. It just doesn't hold my attention. I also agree with C. Allen that there aren't enough fun things to do with other sims. Relationship building is a hassle in this game because they are limited to talking and watching tv. Besides, don't we all miss the vampires, aliens, zombies, etc. of the Sims 2? My favorite expansion pack was the Open for Business EP, but I don't feel Ambitions addresses the challenging (hence entertaining) element of the original at all. It all seems quest driven, repetitive, boring. I remember really struggling to be profitable when I was playing Open For Business. I had to address the personal and social needs of not only my sims but their employees, toggle pricing and inventory, improve salesmanship and display - it was tough to get the balance just right, AND THAT MADE IT FUN. I wasn't done in an hour, or even in a day because it took weeks to achieve the goals (long and short-term) I had set for my sims, but when you finally turn a profit consistently, it feels like you earned it. The Sims 3 feels like the same repetitive tasks over and over again, and it is way too easy to get rich. I am bored! Bring back Open For Business, when you just might go broke trying to make it rich!
I would like to see something where we have more control over their actions. I would like to see an action editior so we can create our own reactions/actions, and an object editor so we can create our own in game objects without hacking the game. I'd also like to see an OPTION to restore the previous mode of Sims household control like we saw in Sims 2, as in, you can go from house to household without the rest of the neighborhood aging while you put your attention on one house. Lastly lets fix the character models so ALL my Sims DONT have the physque of Luca Brazi from The Godfather.
But EA Games is in charge and this is innovation. EA and innovation are like oil and water. So here's to wishful thinking!
I'm a new Sims 3 player and I don't particularly care what they come up with next, but it needs to be something fun and interactive. The jobs should't just be going to the deep fried place and waiting waiting waiting until they are done just to find out they are upset, hungry, have to pee, dirty, and tired. Give me something interactive and worth my time.
