It's hard to believe any album could top Postcards, but "Whatever Gets You Through The Day" does and then some! The title track, "It's a Beautiful Day", "End of the Sky", and "You Always Want..." are some of the best written and performed tunes I've heard from any artist in the past year. 1.0 out of 5 stars Totally commercial
This music was made for making lot's of money. That is obvious. Although it is perfectly produced, you got to take a closer look. I always wondered why people liked it so much. The singer absolutely can't sing. He hardly ever pitches the note, sings flat and without any emotion or vibrato in his voice. This is disgusting to me. And the music is boring. Slick stuff for...

It's hard to believe any album could top Postcards, but "Whatever Gets You Through The Day" does and then some! The title track, "It's a Beautiful Day", "End of the Sky", and "You Always Want..." are some of the best written and performed tunes I've heard from any artist in the past year. From their exquisite themes to their inspirational lyrics, these guys deliver some of their most memorable pieces on this album. Their addition of U2's "One" to "Free" is done with great class! It's a shame their contemporary style never hit it big here in the U.S. "High" had some success but didn't get the full credit it deserved. Hopefully this one will catch on. I've already heard "Free" played on a couple of stations up north. If you are a fan of Lighthouse Family, this is a MUST HAVE!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, as usual!, July 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Whatever Gets You Through (Audio CD)
After obsessing over Ocean Drive and Postcards From Heaven for what seemed like forever, I couldn't wait for this album to be released. It's been a couple of years now, but this album still tops my list of favourites and I still listen to it on a regular basis. It's music for people who appreciate good music, amazing vocals, and lyrics they can relate to. Recently, "You're a Star," which was never one of my favourites, pulled me out of a rut when it seemed like nothing else was working. It may not be what everyone else looks for in an album, but it was just what I needed! My personal favourites: End Of The Sky, and Whatever Gets You Through The Day. It's music you can listen to over and over again without getting tired of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addicted!, May 13, 2005
This review is from: Whatever Gets You Through (Audio CD)
I never thought I'd get addicted to this! I'm usually into rock - listen to Eric Johnson, Mark Knopfler, Toto, etc.. but there's some magic about Lighthouse Family. They suck you in without you realizing it! I can't get past the first 3 tracks, they are so good. Its somehow gotten into my system, so I keep listening to them over and over again. I don't want to pigeonhole music into categories, but I always love music that makes you feel good. And this is one of the best feel-good albums. I also loved Postcards from Heaven, another great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifull, February 26, 2004

I don't know what I like best the appealing/interesting text e.g. "You Always Want What You Haven't Got" or the feel good music. However my girlfriend and I enjoy this CD as much as the other two Lighthouse CDs. Maybe the best is that the songs get better and better as more often you listen to their music. Besides that I have a lot of friends that like the CD too.
I suppose Lex from Switzerland doesn't understand English otherwise he would not write such an incompetent review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Awesome!, January 23, 2003

I don't know exactly if it tops or ties Postcards from Heaven, but it's really a beautiful product. I guess people in US have underappreciated their work. However, if you're a Lighthouse Family fan, you MUST have it!!!

The Lighthouse Family are a group that havent managed to crack the US market yet, but who deserve to. The standout tracks on this album are, Free (sounds fantastic on the radio), Run (a bit different but they execute it perfectly), And Happy (great video, it reminds me on the Gap adverts) If you are a fan of the previous two albums then this is definetly for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hey!!!, May 21, 2007

I was in a Virgin Record Megastore on Gulf Rd. in Kuwait, when a young Arab man said to me, "Hey, you want to hear something cool?" and thus began my love affair with 'The Lighthouse Family.' I can remember taking this album (I mean CD; you can pretty much guess my age) home and listening to it over and over again. I just love their smooth, soothing sound. A well-known British contemporary group, Lighthouse really hasn't been discovered in the US yet. It's a shame too, because I think they'd attract a loyal audience. Tunde Baiyweu's voice sounds like a human saxophone. Although this may be their best work, it's not my favorite of their albums, but it is one of my favorite overall albums. Pick this up and get hooked!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Always Want What You Haven't Got..., August 4, 2005
This review is from: Whatever Gets You Through (Audio CD)
And you should be wanting this album if you don't own it already.

A brilliant follow on from their earlier 2 albums, with plenty of new material in the unique style of the Lighthouse Family.

Highlights include "(I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be) Free/One" and "You Always Want What You Haven't Got". This brings me to add that U2's 'One', arguably the greatest song ever written, is beautifully integrated into track 3 of this masterful album.

A must have album for fans and the like.
