How does she do it?,

This review is from: Whatever Tomorrow Brings (The Californians, Book 1) (Paperback)
In this book a missionary family travels from Hawaii to San Francisco and even though this trip is planned as a holiday they all sense that they won't return. After their arrival in San Francisco the mother dies and the father returns to Hawaii, only to get things setteled. The three children, Kaitlin, Sean and Marcail are supposed to stay with their aunt. But then cousin Percy appears. He falls in love with Kaitlin and as she keeps on ignoring him unwillingly he tries to force a kiss from her. Kaitlin who never had problems like this with men before blames herself for what had happened. She doesn't want to cause any more problems and so she decides to move away with her sibblings. They move to Santa Rosa where Kaitlin is able to work as a schoolteacher and where Marshall Riggs falls in love with her. But knowing about the episode with Percy he sees that he has to give Kaitlin time if he wants his love to be returned. The journey to San Francisco, the death of the mother and the episode with Percy, all these things happen at the beginning of the story. So in the main part basically nothing happens. Kaitlin and Riggs discover their feelings for each other, Sean has problems with growing up and Marcail misses her father. Well, that's the whole story. And still, I promise you, you'll stay glued to this book. I don't know how Lori Wick does this but somehow you'll just fall in love with the characters so that they become like good friends every time you open the book and then you don't want to close it anymore. When I read the last page I was happy but also disapointed to somehow loose these new friends. I am now really looking forward to read the second part of the Californians. I recommend this book to everyone who likes to read good, romantic love stories.

Wonderful.,
This review is from: Whatever Tomorrow Brings (The Californians, Bk. 1) (Paperback)
I've never had a book that has made me cry like this before. I'm a true romantic at heart and I think that what happened between Kaitlin and Rigg is what almost every girl has imagined as their romance. Although its set in an old fashioned world the emotions are so true that I just had to cry- and the book wasnt even sad! I just LOVED it so much and its the first Christian book I've ever read! You should read this book if you are reading my comments right now. God bless.

When I read the reviews for this book I couldn't believe my eyes! This is an excellent book, I have read it a countless amount of times and I never tire of it. I have read the Yellow Rose Trilogy as well and I don't see that much of a resemblance.
Kaitlin, after losing her mother and her father going back to Hawaii, sets out for Santa Rosa with her younger brother and sister to acquire a teaching position. She meets a man name Marshall Riggs who is not as he first appears. He immediately falls for Kaitlin, who is not ready for that kind of relationship even though she admits she is very attracted to him. As more bad news comes from Kaitlin's father, she and Riggs draw closer together. I originally read this book when I borrowed it from the library, as soon as I had finished I knew I had to buy it, and I did. You should do the same, you won't be sorry.

Lori Wick is amazing! She really brings a reader into her books and you can't put them down! The California Series is great! When I read "Whatever Tomorrow Brings" I could not put it down! Next day I borrowed the rest of the series and stayed up all night reading them (3 more books)! Her books are uplifting and hopeful.. I HIGHLY recommend this book... and any other by Lori Wick.

A Wonderfully Romantic Story,

This is the first book I read by Lori Wick, and I couldn't put it down. Even after I finished it, I had to read it again. The editing isn't very good, but it's worth it! The book brings you into the relationship between Kaitlin and Rigg, and you feel as if you are actually there, watching as their feelings change. This book is excellent for the romantic, especially for someone who like historical or Christian fiction. Whatever Tomorrow Brings is a must-read.

This was the first book by Lori Wick that I ever read. It was so good that I read the whole series in less than a week. I now hold all of Lori Wick's books to the high standards that she set in this book and the other 3 in the Californians series. I was in the story, falling in love with the Donovans, the Taylors, and Riggs. It was wonderfully done and I will be forever grateful to my fried who let me borrow her copy because I am now a Lori Wick fan for life!

I have read the Californians series twice and both times it captured my attention. I appreciated the unique plot and the historical details, and the series made me a fan of Lori Wick. However, as is the case, unfortunately, among much Christian fiction, all four books suffered from poor editing. Fortunately, this has been remedied in Wick's more recent work.

As a fan of Lori Wick I love her writing. In a historical setting, it is spectacular. This novel set in California gives an accurate setting of the time and hardships that face a trio of siblings out on their own. We all face whatever tomorrow brings- even Marshall Riggs.
