5.0 out of 5 stars mothers blow your mind, January 8, 2003
By
meyekal (NSW , Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Do Whatever You Want... (Audio CD)
If you're a fan of heavy , mind expanding psych , this album is pure gold . Like all releases from our friends at AMT , this 3 cd compilation is truly the music for the fearless of the 21st century . The monster jam that is disc one is a burning testament to the mothers' power as a devastating live unit , swooping through vast fields of cosmic noise on a seemingly endless flight toward the sun . The 2nd disc is a comp of like-minded artists and AMT associates , ranging from acid-folk bliss- outs to krautrock freakouts , undiluted and raw gems from the ether. Disc three is more AMT solo works and offshoots , more zero tolerance for conformity , more space for the universe to unfold in . All in all , an epic journey that all of us should take . Buy this cd , then buy all the acid (mothers) you can get your hands on , quit your job and kiss the mind of god ..........aum cheeba

5.0 out of 5 stars Acid Mothers Temple-'Do Whatever You.....'(Earworm) 3-CD, October 2, 2004
This review is from: Do Whatever You Want... (Audio CD)
As for any/all Acid Mothers Temple releases, this is IT.It's the bomb...(...),whatever.When I first got this 3-CD,I heard that Earworm,a UK label that put it out had now gone out of business. Not sure if that's true or not.Disc one is an hour long track of the AMT classic "Pink Baby Lemonade".If you're one of those people who doubt that you can enjoy a tune THIS long, give it a try.You may just elevate your mind to new levels you have never imagined.Disc two is more experimental that any other AMT or related release I've ever heard. That's probably because it has eighteen tracks of AMT spin off bands, like Zoffy and Cosmic Riders,a few are unreleased.Disc three is the best of the entire package.Has seven potent heavy-duty psychedelic space rock cuts intact by both AMT themselves and guitarist Makoto Kawabata solo.Move over Hawkwind,Gong,Ozrics,Floyd and Ash Ra Temple...you've got company.Another bunch of space rock henchmen to join the gang.Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tilting the Globe from Red to Purple, June 22, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Do Whatever You Want... (Audio CD)
The Acid Mothers have succeded in crossing the rainbow bridge of consciousness, and they are sending back live and moist transmissions. Where we once wandered lost on a dark path strewn with the remains of those who failed to embody the sublime, we now have the Acid Mothers, and this CD set in particular, to flash purple lights on the way.

Rather than taking a serious or heavy tone, Acid Mothers and friends lift and lilt the listener softly, slowly and oh so subtly before assaulting himorher with monumental guitar borne pahantasms, while maintaining a childs joy and excitement at the wonder of the process.

The only thing this CD can properly be likened to is perhaps a childs eye view of early Tex Avery Bugs Bunny cartoons (why were they so psychedelic anyway?)

Buy this CD. It changed my life. It is awesome. See them live too if you can. They are better than KISS.
