LeAnn Rimes had a ton of crossover success in her career with songs like "How Do I Live", "Can't Fight the Moonlight", "I Need You", and many more. In 2002 she released her first pop cd called TWISTED ANGEL. The album was a flop, but it got her a following in Europe. In 2005 she released a new country CD called THIS WOMAN which had great success, and was a great comeback to country music. So while she has success with her country music in the US, in the UK she plans to pursue her pop career.
WHATEVER WE WANNA is a CD that has been in the works for a long time, and it's been a long wait, but it's finally here. LeAnn helped write 10 of the 15 songs here. The songs are a mix of ballads and uptempos that lend more to the pop/rock sound. No matter what kind of music she's singing, she sounds amazing. The CD opens with the upbeat "Satisfied", then to the lead single "And It Feels Like". The song is an emotional ballad about a relationship that is falling apart. Easily one of the best songs on the album! The album is filled with beautiful ballads like "For The First Time", "This Life", a duet with Brian McFadden on the wonderful "Everybody's Someone", and a new pop version of "Some People" which was previously on her THIS WOMAN album. I can't forget the inspirational single "Strong" as well, which show off her impressive vocals! There are a fair share of upbeat songs like the singalong title track, the fun "Headphones", and more. Other songs I have to mention as they are so good are "Long Night" (would make a great single), "Break Me Down", and "Save Myself". Overall, this album just proves that LeAnn can sing many kinds of music, which us fans already knew. It is a great CD and I hope it brings her a lot of success. People in the US who don't hear this CD are missing out! Check it out! Bottom line: LeAnn has an amazing voice, and these songs really do it justice.

Here comes a new album from LeAnn Rimes. Surprisingly, it is an import from Europe, not released in the USA. Still, listeners and fans on both sides of the Atlantic would certainly 'wanna' this CD as it would give plenty of joy and positive thrills. We know LeAnn Rimes to be a country star, who sometimes goes crossover, like on her "Twisted Angel" album (strangely shunned by critics), which was in the vast majority a pop thing. Then she returned to country with her previous "This Woman", which was to the vast majority a country thing. We know LeAnn Rimes to successfully go between the two styles, playing on both fields.
"Whatever We Wanna" is certainly on the pop field, with practically no country, although some tag it in this category. It again showcases LeAnn Rimes' strong vocal mastery and her songwriters' strong grip at what should be good music. The voice is always strong and good, and we all know that it handles both pop and country with equal power, vibrations and exquisite style. Personally I would single out "Headphones" and "Break Me Down", but all the others are equally great. The last track "Some People" is also on her other album ("This Woman"). You will hear the voice telling stories from a powerful woman in "Strong", who leaves us "Satisfied" not "For the First Time", "And It Feels Like" you get "A Little More Time" through your "Headphones" or stereo of "Whatever We Wanna". Some of you may say that some of this material sounds like much of what is now playing on contemporary country charts. Some may note that this is quite a fresh look on the pop music as known in Europe. Some may even be wondering if this music can be classed at all. Some of you may find little notes connecting songs from this album to other albums of either LeAnn herself or other artists. Well, music is a big melting pot of today, and LeAnn Rimes surely knows her way of cooking some good sort of cake according to her own recipe. This import is double the price I am regularly prepared to pay for a CD on Amazon, but it is worth every penny or cent, as you would return to it again and again. LeAnn Rimes did her best here to ensure that there are no doubts or frustration with even a single track. What you get is what you'd 'wanna' listen to today because it is amazing music from an amazing artist.

LeAnn does Europe,

There are only two things that I don’t like about this album – one is the price (it’s an import), and the second is the “more slutty than sultry” cover art. Having got that over with, the album itself is pretty good, more pop/rock than country, though still with the LeAnn magic.
First track “Satisfied” is a rock track, heavy on the guitars and drums with a killer chorus, while the hit of the album and first single “And It Feels Like” follows right after. This track has very sentimental lyrics, and LeAnn puts everything into it: “I remember every touch, every flower, every word you ever said / I remember how we looked at each other the very first time we met.” The pace slows for “For the First Time”, which revisits the country/pop style that made her such a successful artiste, and then comes “Save Myself”, another great track. Next it’s more guitar infused country with “A Little More Time”, and “Rumour ‘Bout a Revolution”. “Destructive” is predictably a rock track, and you get the impression that she’s belting out the words of the chorus rather than singing them, but then comes second single “Strong” where she redeems herself. The rest of the album is made up of the Shania Twain sound-alike “Whatever We Wanna”; “Everybody’s Someone”, an amazing duet with Brian McFadden that’s definitely single material; “Headphones”- a retro Abba-sound track (another possible single); “Long Night” and “This Life”. The album closes on a high note with “Break Me Down” and “Some People”. (“Some People” is from her last album “This Woman”.) Spend just under an hour with this album, and discover for yourself why LeAnn has won all those awards. Amanda Richards, June 13, 2006

The only bad thing about this album is that it wasn't released in the US. In her most personal album in years, LeAnn and her husband wrote every song on this amazing album with just the right blend of country and pop. These songs speak to us all, they have heart and passion. Destructive is my personal fave. I have been a fan since she was 12 and this album is a must have at all times. Keep it handy and it will help you get through anything life throws at you!

I think LeAnn outdid herself on this album. To this day this is her best album. I am a huge LeAnn fan and have had the opportunity to meet her twice so I have every album she has ever done. I even bought the one she said not to buy when Curb records released without her consent. I couldn't find anything wrong with that album. But this album tops them all.,

America is missing out,
By Patrick (Wisconsin, USA) - See all my reviews

I have a feeling that the music on "Twisted Angel" and "Whatever we Wanna" is the type of music LeAnn would always be doing if she had the choice in the matter. America simply wont accept her as a pop artist so she has to cross an ocean to sing in this style. As a result, you have one amazing track after another. The best part about it is she wrote 10 out of the 15 songs. It really adds to an artist's authenticity when they write the material they're singing about. "Destructive" is a song she wrote about some of the darkest parts of her life. And it's a song like this that really lets us get to know who she is as a person. She's written some amazing lyrics on songs like "A Little More Time" and a sure hit pop song "Headphones." "Whatever We Wanna" is the type of song you love hearing on a Shania Twain album and "And It Feels Like" sounds like something Celine Dion would like to get her hands on. There's something for everybody here. Fans from Madonna to Kelly Clarkson can find material that will suit their interest. LeAnn is such a versatile artist that it's hard to pin her down to one particular style which makes her so interesting because you never know what to expect from her. It's really a shame that America wont have these songs on their radio stations.

I like LeAnn Rimes' work - both country and pop/rock. Hers is a powerful voice filled with emotion, that works well in any genre. What is most unfortunate is the fact that she has been somewhat "typecast" in the US as a "country singer" - and she does that quite well; but it is unfair that she is being snubbed instead of praised as a talented vocalist that defies the boundaries of any one style of music. Track after track, this is a strong collection of songs performed with power and conviction; sometimes to show that strength, a little bit of backing grit from an electric guitar or two or a driving bass line comes in handy. Great arrangements for such a profound performer - from the ballads therein to the more driving tunes. Personally, I was slightly less impressed with her last album "This Woman" and first ignored this one as a result. How wrong I was. When I heard the lead single from this album ["And It Feels Like"] I was hooked. I knew the rest of the disc had to be something special - and it truly, truly is. One of the best CD's released this year - unfortunately not in the USA.
