Global mission vision of students and the history of CICCU, March 12, 2001
This review is from: Whatever happened to the Jesus Lane lot? (Paperback)
Any student that leads a Christian campus ministry needs to get their hands on this book. It tells the tales of how Cambridge students were instrumental in volunteering for overseas missions, particularly when large missionary societies like the China Inland Mission and Church Missionary Society were just getting going.
It is the history of a forerunner to Inter-Varsity - CICCU - the Cambridge Inter-collegiate Christian Union - it covers the years from 1877-1977.
Oliver Barclay has done an excellent job in providing references. The paperback cover has a drawing of several Christians including one that looks suspiciously like John Stott - the Rector Emeritus of All Souls Church - one of London's premier evangelical worship places. It is people of this calibre that came out of CICCU and that Oliver Barclay writes about so well.
