This review is from: What's Cheap and Free in Cancun and the Yucatan (Paperback)
This book is fabulous! We used it to go all over Cancun and to the ruins. We had a small budget for our vacation, but thanks to this book we felt like we were going first class! We found the best deals in town and it was easy! Anyone traveling to Mexico needs this travel book.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Used This Book For Everything, February 5, 2006
This review is from: What's Cheap and Free in Cancun and the Yucatan (Paperback)
We ordered the book for use before we left for Cancun. It turns out we used it to pick our hotel, it piqued our interest for which restaurants we wanted to visit (you must visit Luck Luciano's a local Italian Restaurant) and helped me pick a golf course to play on.

The DVD was extremely useful. We were able to view the tourist destinations before we paid for a tour. We actually used the DVD to do two different self tours, something that we probably would not have otherwise done.

The author's humor and insights were great. We really appreciated the fact the the tips were very personal - the author and his family had visited most of the places mentioned and that made it seem like we could trust his recommendations more.

Worth the money and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Is A Winner, April 15, 2005

This review is from: What's Cheap and Free in Cancun and the Yucatan (Paperback)
We had a family reunion in Playa del Carmen, MX. Five families got together to celebrate my parent's wedding anniversary. We had little kids, teens, adults and my mom who has some trouble getting around. You can only imagine how hard it was to decide where to go and what to do

The DVD that comes with this book proved to be invaluable. We all watched it together and saw all of the major sites. We got to see if the attractions were kid friendly BEFORE we paid the entrance fee. My mom even went with us to Xcaret. She is not a swimmer but after watching the DVD she saw that there were lots of places to rest and lots of animals to see - the turtles were her favorite.

We did as the author suggested and had breakfast and lunch usually at "home". We brought our Sam's Club card (I never thought that Sam's Club was in Mexico) so we even saved money on groceries. We ate out for dinners.

Hola Asia in Puerto Morelos was one of our favortie places. The food was fantastic and very inexpensive. Our waitress was from New Hampshire.

What a grat family reunion. We plan on going back in five years.
