As a person who constantly clips things out to save, I really needed a recipe organizer.

This book is almost perfect. It's attractive, with it's vintage-style photographs and cooking-related quotes. It has pockets for your clippings, photo album-type pages for a recipe you're currently making (thereby protecting the recipe), and pages for you to write in recipes...

2.0 out of 5 stars So Close!
I bought three copies of this as Christmas gifts.

I absolutely love the pictures and style of the book. However, the pages are so hard to flip that I'm seriously thinking of returning all three. It has a D-type clip and the pages stick on the straight side. Also, they don't flip back when you close the book. You have to manually turn all the pages back to the...

As a person who constantly clips things out to save, I really needed a recipe organizer.

This book is almost perfect. It's attractive, with it's vintage-style photographs and cooking-related quotes. It has pockets for your clippings, photo album-type pages for a recipe you're currently making (thereby protecting the recipe), and pages for you to write in recipes garnered from friends or family members. This book does provide a home for all of your recipes.

One problem is that the pockets are simply paper folders, and I am already stuffing them full! Perhaps an expandable cloth pocket would be better, but that is wishful thinking. Also, the paper pockets are already worn, and my recipes are starting to seep out the bottom.

Another problem is the collection of categories. Included are: Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Pasta, Main Courses, Side Dishes, Breads, Desserts, and Miscellaneous. However, I think that this is not all-inclusive. Other useful categories might be Sauces or Beverages.

However, for the price and purpose, this is a good item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the kitchen..., March 27, 2002
This review is from: What's Cooking?: A Recipe Organizer (Personal Organizers) (Ring-bound)
I had seen this book a number of times at different stores, and finally, I decided to purchase it.

So far, so good! I really enjoy the style of this recipe organizer. I have always wanted a good place to keep my recipes safe and organized.

Not only is it perfect for organizing your recips according to type, it's got some helpful hints and some great quotes!

It is an adorable book, and would make an excellent gift, or wonderful addition to your own kitchen.

I bought three copies of this as Christmas gifts.

I absolutely love the pictures and style of the book. However, the pages are so hard to flip that I'm seriously thinking of returning all three. It has a D-type clip and the pages stick on the straight side. Also, they don't flip back when you close the book. You have to manually turn all the pages back to the right side of the binder.

I have a blank recipe book similar to this which I was using just last night. It has the standard round clips. I flipped back and forth no problem. When I was done, I just closed the book and all the pages fell back in place.

So I love the look - but not the function of the three I ordered.

I had to send the first book back because the binding broke before I ever even used it. You have to flip the pages carefully to avoid stressing the binding. I also would prefer more categories. Still, I am using it daily and like the big pockets for recipes that I cut out of the paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Recipe Organizer I've Seen!!!, February 24, 2006

I searched awhile before I ordered this and I am glad I took my time making a decision! This recipe organizer is awesome! It has a nice design and good dividers. I like the pockets and the photo pages to stick in recipes that have been clipped out of magazines. I also enjoy the plastic overlay for the page you are currently using so that the recipe doesn't get all dirty. I have seen many many recipe organizers, but this is the only one that could really be a keepsake and handed down generation to generation. It's the next best thing to making one of your own! Since I'm not crafty, this was the perfect solution for me! I highly recommend it!! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars a great way to get organized, April 14, 2003
This review is from: What's Cooking?: A Recipe Organizer (Personal Organizers) (Ring-bound)
I got this after I happened upon it and realized that everytime i tried to de-clutter I ran into tons of cut out and computer printed recipes all over.

It helps to have somewhere to put all of these things. I *would* like it to be bigger and have more space for recipes of differnt types. That said, its pretty adorable and functional.

For the cost, it was a good purchase and can sit on the book shelf with the rest of my cook books. I can imagine this as a good gift for a bridal/engagement shower, a person moving into an apartment for the first time or a child going off to school. Filling it with some of your favorites would be an extra nice touch.

4.0 out of 5 stars What's Cooking? A Recipe Organizer, June 16, 2005
This review is from: What's Cooking?: A Recipe Organizer (Personal Organizers) (Ring-bound)
I really like the organizer, but I agree with one of the other reviews that the pockets need to be reinforced.

Also, I am already in need of filler pages. There isn't enough black recipe sheets for a person who would want this type of organizer. Where can I get more blanck recipe sheets? It is an odd size, so you really need to be able to purchase them from the manufactuer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Keeper!, September 10, 2005
This review is from: What's Cooking?: A Recipe Organizer (Personal Organizers) (Ring-bound)
I love the setup, its easy to flip to different sections, and there is a place to stick recipes in each section that one hasnt gotten to transfer over yet. The only thing I could find wrong with it was the space to write down ingredients in was kind of small, and it came to me one ring is permanantly bent open. However, I have big writing so that one thing could be my own fault :-D

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not what I imagined., December 27, 2005
This review is from: What's Cooking?: A Recipe Organizer (Personal Organizers) (Ring-bound)
I bought this organizer to organize recipes I have printed from the internet. However, this organizer is meant to be written in. I modified that thought by re-typing out the recipes and then cutting and taping each recipe in. I found it to be somewhat time consuming, but well worth the effort to have all my recipes in one book rather than spread out over many books, or loose pages scattered about. Another small complaint I have is that some of the categories are not very practical, such as "Soup". A whole catergory dedicated to soups? Although, you can just take the page out, as it is a three ring binder style organizer. Good investment for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs some work, May 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: What's Cooking?: A Recipe Organizer (Personal Organizers) (Ring-bound)
This is a cute idea with the 1950s kitschy theme, but it needs some fine tuning. The size is smaller than a photo album which is handy, but that doesn't allow for a lot of room to write recipes.

The photos and quotes are cute. There are sticky pages where you can paste photos or recipe cards. But again, this book is a scaled down version so an elaborate recipe won't fit on one side. The folders seem a little skimpy if you have a lot of recipes from magazines and newspapers, but for me (not a big cook) it works.

They could've left out the pasta section and separated the vegetables from the side dishes. I think there are too many recipes to combine them into one section. Overall, it's a cute original funky theme. But it lacks room for hardcore cooks.
