Book Description

November 1999
In a world where people are seeking answers to the challenges that appear everyday, What's Happening Inside Your Prayer Closet may be the answer. The author takes a different approach in this spiritual self-help book.

What's Happening Inside Your Prayer Closet provides effective counsel on how one can have an effectual prayer life. In a down-to-earth approach, which is not overly "religious", Ananda Glover-Akpey explains how praying in the Spirit can positively impact one's life. With this invaluable asset, one can them make informed decisions and take responsible actions based on an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Having a strong prayer life will positively impact ones life in every area.

This book is complete, with an explanation of the requirements for receiving the Holy Spirit, a comprehensive analysis of ones own prayer life, and suggestions and methods on how one can pray in the Spirit.

The impact of this book on its readers has been phenomenal. Many have said that after reading this, they realized how ineffective their prayer life had been -- a prayer life that had been mostly monologue and not dialogue. Understanding that prayer is a dialogue, where one has to spend just as much time listening as making their request known, is one of the fundamental issues brought out in this book.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

Use this book to examine your prayer actions and to benefit from the author's teaching and research experience on effective prayer.

More people are realizing that the conveniences of modern technology in our restless world cannot satisfy their hunger for inner peace. Effective prayer in the Spirit is essential for spiritual growth, understanding, and harmony in the world.

What's Happening Inside Your Prayer Closet will help you make informed decisions and take responsible actions to cultivate an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Part One introduces the masculine (reason) and feminine (feeling) to present their collaboration as a requirement for receiving the Holy Spirit. Part Two is mainly masculine and provides a comprehensive analysis of what happens inside your prayer closet. Part Three, which is essentially feminine, suggests methods for praying effectively in the Spirit. To pray in the Spirit, is to feel or experience the Holy Spirit's awesome presence inside your prayer closet.

The author believes that: * Knowing how to pray in the Spirit is an invaluable asset * It's time to graduate from the prayer fundamentals (acknowledgment, confess, thanksgiving, and supplication.) to a new level of Praying in the Spirit.

What's Happening Inside Your Prayer Closet is a step-by-step spiritual, self-help book. It helps you understand the relationship between the Spirit, the Soul, and the Body. The Holy Spirit will teach you all things (John 14:26). Freedom comes with knowing who you are. Know the Truth and be free (John 8:32)

Discipling the body, enjoying more health, and sharpening the mind's ability to concentrate, are some of the book's fringe benefits. The book's greatest benefits are: * Enjoying a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit and Christ. * Feeling God's love, protection, and guidance, always.

About the Author

Ananda Glover-Akpey is a native of Ghana. In 1987, just one year after completing his secondary education at Achimota School in Ghana, he earned the LRSM diploma Piano Performance from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music.

Wanting to continue his education, Ananda came to the United States to attend Dartmouth College. In 1991, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering Sciences with Music. A year later, he earned an additional degree -- a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.

In 1992, Ananda had a chance meeting in an elevator with Pastor Theodore Bailey. Pastor Bailey became Ananda's spiritual leader and he believes his pastor is the major impetus behind his first book, What's Happening Inside Your Prayer Closet?

Ananda designed and taught a Prayer Closet course at Father Abraham's Christian Center. Organizing this course was a major multi-disciplinary experience for him. While conducting spiritual research under the Holy Spirit's guidance, he waited on the Lord to show him how to proceed. He was led to write this book, as well as to continue to work at Father Abraham's Christian Center.

Ananda thanks the Lord for blessing him with the skills to help others. With his skills in piano playing, creative design, writing, public speaking and teaching, he knows the Holy Spirit has used him effectively. He also thanks the Lord for the precious love and discipline he received from his parents in Africa and Europe, and for his invaluable training from a young age, which continues to have him in meditation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life savers come in many forms., February 4, 2000

This review is from: What's Happening Inside Your Prayer Closet? (Paperback)
This book came to me in a very critical moment. I have read many many so called self help books, and the way I rate them, is according to how much I can profit from them. "What's happening inside your prayer closet" is saving my life in this moment because it put me in touch with the most intimate part of myself where my real truth is, only there, in this moment of my life, I can find peace.

I went to highschool with Mr.Glover-Akpey. I am really proud to hear of his literary achievement. Though I haven't read to book yet, I do intend to get a copy. I hope it is as promising as the title suggests. More power tou you Akpey, but ultimately, ALL the Glory to the King of Kings!
