I wrote this book because I am African-American and Im a Republican. I wanted to write about why I am a Republican and explain the reasons why I feel that the Republican party is, overall, the better party. Also, I wanted to talk about what I go through on a daily basis being that I am black and a Republican. In America, over 90% of the African-American population votes for the Democratic Party and has an overall dislike for the Republican Party. I wanted to show that African-Americans have more in common with Republicans than we do Democrats, especially on moral and social issues such as abortion, homosexuality, the family, school choice, and school prayer, which are some of the main reasons why I chose to be a Republican. I also wanted to show why we as African-Americans strongly support the Democratic Party by showing what went on in history and also to educate our people on where we came from politically. Statistics show that African-Americans are generally very conservative when it comes to social issues. We are very religious and family-oriented. Yet, our people as a whole overwhelmingly vote for the party that I feel has turned their back on traditional values: the Democratic Party. This book shows both parties overall stances on the issues and shows why I feel the Republican Party is the better party. This book is for those of us who want real change in our nation.
