5.0 out of 5 stars When "use your words" just won't work..., October 3, 2007

Boynton is back! Here's another winner from one of our favorite children's book authors... It's about the trouble that occurs when strong emotions -- unhappiness or anger or boredom or helplessness -- collide with a little person's inability to explain what they are feeling, or why. A toddler named Little Pookie is in a big funk, and his/her caregiver asks a bunch of questions to find out why. The adult's question appear in bold, dark typeface; Pookie replies in little red letters. Are you tired? No. Are you hungry? No. Did you lose something? No. Finally, the adult realizes that an actual answer probably isn't possible, and starts to ask silly, nonsense questions that help Little Pookie laugh a little and get unstuck. This call-and-response structure makes this a really fun book for parents and kids to read together... This is a lovely little book and a great tool to help build emotional intelligence... Highly recommended! (ReadThatAgain)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Boynton ever!, June 15, 2008

We LOVE this hilarious book! My husband and I read it together for our 1 year-old son (I usually read the Pookie part) and it cracks us up every time. When my son is upset and getting fussy, simply reciting the 1st few lines of the book will often calm him down. This is a family favorite and we highly recommend it.

I enjoy reading this book to my daughter (she enjoys it too :)) and use the tricks in this book when she is feeling like Pookie in the book. Seems to work so far.

Pookie is upset. No, he has the "blahs." No, he doesn't feel well. No, wait....maybe he is lonely. Well, haven't you been there before yourself? I have! I would love for someone to read this book to me...

This book cheers up our toddler whenever he is blue. He loves to be asked questions and get to answer, "No!" He never fails to giggle at the end!

My 15 month old granddaughter loves this book. It's interactive, she quickly learned to say no with Pookie. Don't pass this one up.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the first books my toddler "reads", March 14, 2010
This review is from: What's Wrong, Little Pookie? (Board book)
This book doesn't have the same rhythm and rhyme as most of Boynton's other books, it's bit simpler. But it's one of the first books my 22 month old would sit and "read" by herself. Yes, she shortened all the sentences to one word each and skipped pages, but it was pretty cute to see her up on our big recliner proudly reading "sick? No. Drink? No."

A little different from Boynton's normal style, but still a very sweet little board book.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Boynton book, September 14, 2009
This review is from: What's Wrong, Little Pookie? (Board book)
This book is our introduction to Sandra Boynton and we love it (and her)! When reading Pookies' part I use a funny voice and my 9 month old loves it. I crack-up at the end of the book each time I read it. Since buying this book I have purchased 7 other Boynton books and I will continue to build the library.

When my son is upset and I cannot get him to talk or stop crying, I read him this book. Even though he is 2 1/2, he now knows Pookie's lines and is happy to "read" along. He is always smiling at the end.
