This cd is pretty good. I love how some of the artists remade the songs into their own, like Jane Child with "We Dont Need Anoher Hero" & Kyle. McMahon with "I Dont Want To Fight". Kyle.'s solo version is far superior to the one here & you can find it on the net. Rose Riter just sang over Kyle.'s version of the song. Ashame as she doesn't really have the "chutzpah" to sing a song like this.
I also like the remade version of Private Dancer. THe other songs just sound like the original versions.

I just listened to the cd and thought that the album was done well. Although I have to admit that Nancy Kerrigan needs to stick to skating - there was a track that more than made up for it! Wendy Jans' performance on track 13 was incredible! Why isn't this lady on the top of the charts?? Her sound is flawless, clean, and her style is what the music industry needs! This cd is definitely worth buying!

OK, BUT THERE SHOULD BE OTHER STARS.,

This review is from: What's Love? a Tribute to Tina Turner (Audio CD)
These are great songs. A more star studded seasoned cast should have mad up a majority of this album. Some of the tracks on the album are really good.
1) Whats love, performed by Tiffany:This cut shows Tiffany taking a on a hard song to sing and handling it with ease.Clear soothing.Good rendition, and a mature vocalist. 2)Better be good, an ok version, mabe a sounding a little dated compared to the original. 3)We don't need another hero: one of the most essential tracks on the album. Jane Child gives this dated song a breath of new life. An almost erotic/dark/spooky vocal performance and the production is awesome. 4)I don't wanna fight, a good country rendition. Nice passionate vocals on this one. 5)River Deep, in my opinion the worst track on the album. There is nothing standing between this and a cheap do-it-your-self kareoke vocal demo. Darlene is too good for that.Sounds cheap, cheezy and computer generated, a little less on the protools. 6)Rock me baby,Not too bad, a grooving blues/country version of Tina's erotic sex anthem. This song may have been written by BB King but this song (like Proud Mary) is Tina's.Like Proud mary, her version blows any other version out of the water. 7)I can't stand the rain, Great vocals by Allanah but the background vocals sound cheezy and computer genrated. 8)Private Dancer-Jasy Andrews, a new talent this version stands proud next to the original. A pop/acoustic version with a basic piano backing and a soothing crystal clear vocal performance make this an essential track on this album.Haunting. 9)The Best, Nancy Kerrigan, Advice: Nancy stick to skating. This rendition is a joke. Your an athlete not a singer. 10)Proud Mary, Ross stevens. Great rendition of Tina Turners proud mary, incorporating some elements of the original ccr rendition in it. Great, energetic. 11)What you get is what you see, Deniece Williams,A good version not trying to over sing.Good job. 12)A love like yours (liner notes say 'so Fine'[an Ike and tina recording from 1966 but the song Alove like yours. Kip Winger, sounding eerily similar to Rod stewart, I (of course) love his voice. This accoustic rendition is emotional and hearfelt like Tinas Dynamic cover. Tina's version of a love like yours is much more mature and intese than martha & the Vandellas teen pop/motown version. 13)Silent Wings, not too bad is almost in the same league as Tinas version, this version however, lacks imagination, and originality. 14)River deep accoustic version> better as this is much more simple and does not sound so computerized and kaeokeish. Decent. Tracks 3,4,6,8,10,12 make this album worth buying!

I bought this CD because of Tiffany. I just lover her voice. Think she did a great job covering "what's love got to do with it?" Her voice is amazing. But i think they could have produced it differently. She should have done "Thunderdome", i think she would have done it very good.
But Jane Child does it very good too, and i liked the cover of this track it is different but with same force as the original. And Jasy Andrews cover of "Private Dancer" is beautiful. She made it to a ballad, with herself playing piano while she is singing. The rest of the songs is good as well. Except Nancy Kerrigan, trying to sing and cover "The Best". She really stink as a singer and should stick to figure skating. but the CD is good over all...

A Pretty Stellar Album,
This review is from: What's Love? a Tribute to Tina Turner (Audio CD)
The Tina Turner Tribute CD was released on June 15 and I finally got my copy yesterday. Many fans are disgruntled that the project doesn't have many superstars on it. I do agree with this assessments that the CD should have included many more BIG NAME stars. She is good friends with Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Tom Jones, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Brian Adams, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Dolly Parton, Bono and U2, Sting, LuLu, Bette Midler and she has influenced people like Bonnie Tyler, Destiny's Child, Anastacia just to name a FEW. However, all that being said, all in all it is a very stellar album! The people did their best to give a good tribute to Tina Turner and it really shows!! Most of the singers took unique takes on Tina's songs and tried to bring a new dimension to the songs. Here is a critique: 1) What's Love Got To Do With It by Tiffany - this one was mediocre. The vocals were an EXACT imitation of Tina's and the instrumentation wasnt much different either. She should have tried to use her own style. However, I think Tiffany has a nice voice and she employed her tone well in certain places. Overall a 6/10 2) Better Be Good To Me by Richard Kendrick - I thought Richard did an EXCELLENT job with this song. His use of harmonizing vocals added a very nice effect and new dimension to the song. The instrmentals were really good as well. I wish he added more grit to his voice, though. But this is still a very solid effort. I give it a 8/10 3) Beyond Thunderdome by Jane Child - I didnt like this. This rendition was very odd - upon first listen it would have taken you a long while to realize what song she was singing. The tempo is too slow and the new instrumentation just doesnt work. 5/10 4) I Don't Wanna Fight by Rose Reiter and Kyle McMahon - this was a nice cover. They gave the song a very country twist and the harmonies were nice. 8/10 5)River Deep Mountain High by Darlene Love - according to certain sources, Darlene Love was in the choir of the original recording with Tina!! It is also said that Phil Spector originally inteded the lead vocals for HER! Darlene does a really good job with this song. I like the "old-school" vibe her vocals have. She also puts a lot of passion into the song! 9/10 6) Rock Me Baby by Michel'le and Jeff Haley - This is a nice rendition. The arrangement of the song is not really much different than Tina's. 8/10 7) I Can't Stand The Rain by Alannah Myles and Jeff Healy - This arrangement is quite different from Tina's. The vocals are rich and deep but not passionate enough. 7/10 Private Dancer by Jasy Andrews - I REALLY like this one. This is TOTALLY different from Tina's version. It is only Jasy's vocals accopanied by a Piano and it works well. The harmonizing vocals are a nice added touch to the song. My only dislike is that the vocal range displayed on this song is WAYYY less than on Tina's version - and the climax of the song is not as passionate. Jasy takes a different approach to the song - while Tina's vocals express raw passion desperation, Jasy's vocals are more sad and depressing. This is still an EXCELLENT track though. 10/10 9) The Best - Nancy Kerrigan does absolutely nothing with this song. Her vocals are lackluster and boring. Even though she does have a pleasant voice, it is the backing vocals that save the song because it provides enough varation from Tina's rendition to make it interestion. I am also fairly perturbed they did not include the keyboard interlude included on the extended version on the Foreign Affair album. 7.5/10 10) Proud Mary by Ross Stevens - REALLLY EXCELLENT JOB. This is the the best track on the album!! Ross does an excellent job recreating the track and infuses it with energy that would make Tina proud! 10/10 11) What You Get Is What You See by Deniece Williams - Really good job! Even though she changed some of the lyrics slightly, her vocal performance was REALLY good. She fit the song well. 10/10 12) So Fine by Kip Winger - Pretty nice job. The vocals are raw and strong. 8/10 13) Silent Wings by Wendy Jans - Excellent job on this song. They take a more acoustic/country twist with this song and it works well. 8/10 14) River Deep Mountain High Acapella by Darlene Love and Richard Kendrick - Really good job on this song. This is a nice way to end the album. 8/10 Overall I would reccommend this album. While I do hope another Tina tribute Cd is released with more popular names, this CD is pretty good and will grow on you. Versailles Records did a nice job with this Tribute and I think we should support it. The entire CD I would rate 7.5/10

Only a couple of good remakes on this stinker!,

I bought this CD as I love Tina, but was disappointed with most of the songs. The best remake was by TIFFANY. Who would ever think? She nailed it down like a pro, and being a Tina fan. TIFFANY ROCKED!!!!! Thank goodness for that, as the rest are stinkos! Denice Williams was good and I thought Nancys voice wasn't a good choice for The Best, but with the right material, she can sing. The rest are garbage!
Its worth buying for the Tiffany song tho!

A tribute album to Tina Turner....she certainly deserves it. The problem is, that if you cover Tina Turner, it will always sound weak compared to the original. This is why this album only works when the songs are given a complete different arrangement. I Loved the new version of "Private Dancer"(sounds like Tori Amos) and "Silent Wings" is also great. The other tracks on the cd sound mostly like cheap karaoke versions, instead of a professional recording. I do not regret buying the cd because of the 2 songs I mentioned above, but overall not a very memorable album.
