5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Blissed Out Indie Perfection!, October 26, 2003

Benna's songs have a way of getting under your skin, becoming a soundtrack to everything you feel or experience for a long time after falling into the songs. Her pristine voice and open yet not overly obvious lyrics, swirling guitars, layered and rich (yet never produced in a way that shreds the emotional resonance, rather enhances it)production provide a terrific listen for those who may be searching for a less plain sounding and far more interesting Aimee Mann. Perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars Where to shelve this great CD?, May 6, 2003

I don't know whether you'd call it folk, or pop, or "girl rock" (whatever that is), but I do know that the infectious melody-making of Benna will have you listening to this CD many times over and over. Her songs have a way of sinking in, not only to your feet (read: hard to keep your toes from tapping) but also into your head; they're the kind of hooks you find yourself singing under your breath all day long. If you like female vocalists, try Benna, you'll share my excitement at this discovery.

4.0 out of 5 stars No hits, but a solid CD, February 14, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: What's Meant to Be (Audio CD)
Only two songs from her first CD, "Georgia's Book of Flowers" and "Margaret's Machine" made my playlist, and while they were better than anything here, that's OK, because this is a much more even effort, listenable all the way through. It's tough to make it as an indi artist, but I hope she keeps at it, she's got what it takes.
