Fun and educational,

This review is from: What's My Pee Telling Me? (Hardcover)
I must be a little twisted to find this book and "What is your poo telling you?" absolutely hilarious. My inquisitive mind has always been drawn to understanding everything. So I have wondered about the relation of health to excreting waste. What does it mean when your pee is clear? What if it is dark yellow? Why do men have such a hard time hitting the toilet every time? Does peeing on a jellyfish sting really help the pain? This book answers all of these questions plus many more, including what causes poo to be different colors, (Take note of the color that should have you head to the hospital). You will also be treated with what gases make up farts. You will laugh while you are learning about pee, poo, and farts. Does it get any better than this? (My teenage daughter criticized me for getting these ridiculous books, then read them when I was not around and laughed hysterically). Warning: Not intended for prudes or snobs.

This review is from: What's My Pee Telling Me? (Hardcover)
The title is funny and the writing is light and sometimes hilarious, but this little book packs in a lot of information, not just about your pee, but there's a great poo section too! How many times have you wondered why your pee had a weird odor or looked a funny color but were afraid to ask why or didn't really know who to ask? This book covers all that plus a whole lot more. Your pee can tell you when you're not hydrated enough, when you might have an infection or other condition and when you need to see a doctor. It can tell you if something unusual with your pee is cause for concern or not a big deal. One of the authors, Anish A. Sheth, M.D., holds a medical degree from Brown University so he knows all about this kind of stuff. The other author, Josh Richman holds an MBA from Stanford University and is a friend of Dr. Sheth. I suspect Josh Richman is the one with the sense of humor (not that MD's can't be funny) and he does a great job of making this book very entertaining and easy to read. This would be a cute little book to keep in the bathroom reading rack for when you're hanging out there with nothing else to do. It would be a funny, but also useful gift for those people on your gift lists who have everything. And it answers a lot of questions that you might have been hesitant to talk about with anyone else. An amusing title, but a very useful little book.

What Goes In Must Come Out!,
This review is from: What's My Pee Telling Me? (Hardcover)
What goes in must come out. It's that simple. But what does it all mean? Between these pages lies the mystery and the key to your health and happiness.
My Thoughts: Okay let me just say YES I giggled thru this entire book! I challenge anybody to read this book and not laugh out loud several times! Maybe I'm weird but I actually loved this book and can only imagine what the rest in the series are like. The authors have done an excellant job on presenting some crucial health information for you while making it humerous and fun to read. You'll learn things like what the different colors of your urine can tell you about your health and when you should go to your doctor. And on the humerous side it is filled with the different kinds of farts, what they are called, and what causes them. I never knew there was an actual name for farting in bed and yanking the sheets over your mates head! It's called The Dutch Oven! [...]

I was hoping for a little more information and a little less quirkiness. But, for anyone that really doesn't know about the subject its a good way to get the message across.

Bodily Functions, Irregularities, and Explanations,
By
This review is from: What's My Pee Telling Me? (Hardcover)
What goes in must come out, and this book is ready to explore the many reasons that cause your poo, pee, and flatulence to look and/or smell and/or feel the way they do. This book offers humor and education, with some surprising facts about our bodily functions.
Many people feel uncomfortable talking about this type of subject, but it is a safe bet that most every one of us has experienced the different forms of poo, pee, and gas discussed in this book and many of us wonder what they mean. It could be anything from the color of your pee to the texture of your poo. What if your pee causes a bunch of bubbles when it strikes the toilet water? What if your poo this morning was very light in color? These and other facts are uncovered in the pages of What's My Pee Telling Me, and they help to increase your bodily function IQ higher than you thought possible. This book takes a mostly humorous look at bodily excretions but the book has its serious moments also. When Dr. Stool takes the microphone to explain the facts, the tone changes to serious. This factual material is important, and there could be medical conditions behind the strange color or foul smell of your pee, poo, or gas. This same, more serious tone is demonstrated in the notes under the heading Did You Know. Again, these sections are factual, so the humor is eliminated or at least toned down. What's My Pee Telling Me is a small book physically, and with its content and bright yellow cover, it would be right at home in the bathroom, next to the toilet. The light reading and subject matter are just right for passing a few minutes of time as you sit on the throne. And even though the book is written in a humorous, lightened- up way, the official medical explanations can prove to be very helpful and even life- saving. Red urine, for example, could be a sign of serious medical problems and the book directs anyone with this or other conditions to seek medical attention immediately. Bathroom humor isn't always a hit with every reader, but there is much to be enjoyed in the pages of What's My Pee Telling Me. It's a fun and informative book about our bodily functions and while a little more length and more expanded coverage of the different colors, scents, and sensations surrounding pee, poo, and gas would make for more rounded reading material, it is still an enjoyable book, full of humor, interesting information, anecdotes, and more.

This book is everything you would expect...and a little more. Great on the coffee table as a conversation piece. Even better as bathroom reading.
