Excellent song writing from a Nashville cat. Very well done. Excellent lyrics, and actual country/acoustic music played well (rather than the pop music that passes for country that comes out of Nashville these days)...standout tracks include "My Dog Jesus", the title song, "the 100 Letter Word", but pretty much everything here is more than listenable...Fortmeyer is funny, wistful, sentimental and sweet without being maudlin. He has a slightly gravelly voice that is pleasant enough, and he seems to understand how to use it to proper effect and work around his limitations. Good record.
