These are the questions answered in this lovely picture book by author Carla Jo Masterson.
The story begins when Mr. Positively, a fantasy, dream-like being who inhabits the rainbow and who could be viewed as God, invites children to follow him through the colors of the rainbow in a journey of self discovery. Love, anger, laughter, shyness, fear, sadness, friendship, joy--these emotions are examined as the children move from one color of the rainbow to another.
The author uses repetition techniques for rhythm and cadence and a combination of rhyme and free verse. The surrealist illustrations in soft pastels create a nice splash across the pages and complement well the serene, almost spiritual tone of the story. This is an unusual book that invites young readers to self retrospection.
What's on the other side of the rainbow? The reader will have to buy the book to find out! Suffice to say it's a magic rule that everybody should know and every child should understand from a young age. A book that isn't only a fun story, but one that leads to parent-child bonding and spiritual growth, What's on the Other Side of the Rainbow? comes highly recommended from this reviewer.

Discover What's On The Other Side, April 17, 2007

The first thing that I noticed was the oversized, imprinted, hardcover, reminiscent of the Golden Books I loved so much as a child. What's On The Other Side of The Rainbow has everything a parent or educator could ask for in a children's book. Making it a rare find that will leave children pleading.... " read it just one more time, please," and parents happily obliging.
Carla Jo Masterson has created a literary work that will leave children smiling and parents feeling good about their choice of reading material. To deliver messages of such importance in fun, enjoyable ways is a testament to the talent of the author. Together, with the illustrations by Omra Jo Fochtman, this book should be read in daycare centers, schools, and homes everywhere.
What's On The Other Side of The Rainbow is much more than a bedtime story. Carla introduces us to Mr. Positively, who leads the reader not only through the book, but through a door to understanding and accepting ourselves and our feelings, as well as, those of others.
With the number of broken homes increasing, school violence and bullying on the rise, and the general decline of moral values, the need for a book such as this has never been greater. Carla Jo Masterson has answered that call with What's On The Other Side of The Rainbow. To create a morally sound, entertaining book for children is no easy feat. However, Masterson has delivered all this, with a genuine sincerity that is both heart warming and refreshing!

Here are my comments on Ms Masterson's wonderful book.....
"Carla's book, "What's On The Other Side Of The Rainbow?" (The Secret Of The Golden Mirror) will help all children know about their feelings and to understand something very important, what their feelings are for. Her use of colors and repetition keeps my 7-year-old son's attention, and stops his eyes from wondering around the room. The mourning after we read it he kept reciting different phrases from the book as well. Ms. Masterson is truly a gifted author and definately a gift from God. She is doing what she is meant to do and for that all parents and children that read her books should be grateful. She is truly an outstanding author! I hope she keeps writing books and I will keep buying them and reading them with my son over and over again. I also know that my son will pass these books down to his children as well."
