5.0 out of 5 stars Infectious
I picked up this band's debut album on a whim a few years ago, and I've since fallen completely in love with their upbeat, high-energy style. The songs are ridiculously fun to sing along to, and the purely instrumental tracks are equally wonderful. This is a must-hear, riotous good time of an album--do yourself a favor and listen in! (If it works for you, make sure to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Leaves me wishing for the awesome sound on 'Bring Yer Wellies'
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gaelic Storm. That said, this CD somehow just misses the mark for me and my husband. We're relatively new 'converts' - discovered them this summer at the Irish festival, and their performance was fabulous. After several listens and heartfelt attempts to love this CD, though, my husband and I mutually agreed that this time they fell short. Darcy's...

As a devout GS fan, I own all of their prior albums and try to see them whenever I can. This album is tons of fun and in my opinion, their best yet! There is such a good mix of tunes on here that even those new to their style are sure to come around. The lyrics are hilarious, too!

This is the first Gaelic Storm CD I have purchased and I can definitely say it won't be my last. I was smiling the whole way to work in the car today! And work wasn't the reason. The music was!! The songs are fun, upbeat. The music is great. I love Irish music and the twist that they add makes it more entertaining than ever. You won't be dissapointed. I am sure this is only the begining of my collection.

Darcy's Donkey is fun, as are several other numbers, and the talent is still obvious. I guess I'm spoiled by the great songs on "Wellies" and their other albums. The 7-11 song is particularly, well, awful. I should say it with more diplomacy, but I'm an honest O'Reilly....Most everyone here seems pretty happy with this album so I'm sure I'll give it more listens. I remain a die-hard fan of GS, and I'll hang in there till the next time. "The Devil Down Below" and the Johnny Tarr songs have my full adoration!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't get enough, March 21, 2010

What an excellent CD. It hits a high out the door with "What's the Rumpus?" and never really stops. Clever lyrics, excellent musicianship and a different vibe than normally comes from California. You'd never know this Celtic Pop band is from the Bear state. And after hearing a couple songs you won't care. It's music that is fun, touching and full of soul. With each successive album Gaelic still pushes the limits while staying true. There are plenty of songs to sing to and enjoy. I an only hope than can make it to the South so I can see them in concert.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, February 21, 2010

I was so looking forward to this album. Unfortunately, my daughters and I ended up disappointed. "What's the Rumpus" is the only good song on the album. The rest of the album definitely fell short of their usual standard. We found the other songs to be dull and unfun. Still a die-hard fan though. Can't wait for their tour to get back to California. If you are looking to purchase your first Gaelic Storm CD, I recommend any of their other releases. The first three are wonderful with all their Irish traditionals. "Wellies" is just great fun all around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Been hooked since "The Titanic", April 16, 2009
This review is from: What's the Rumpus? (Audio CD)
If you've ever seen the movie, Gaelic Storm was the party band belowstairs that totally rocked out the sinking ship. I've been crazy about the band ever since.

"What's the Rumpus" is probably my favorite Gaelic Storm yet. It's the band at their lively, raucous best.

Favorites:

What's the Rumpus
Death Ride to Durango
If Good Times Were Dollars
The Night I Punched Russell Crowe

But, seriously, it's all good. If you enjoy Celtic rock with a wild wit, you're going to enjoy this CD.

I own all of the Gaelic Storm CDs (and have seen the band in person many times -- in fact, when I first saw them, they were still the original band!). I highly recommend this album and all of their others, you won't be disappointed!
