If you have a high fear of failure, you may be choosing tasks at which you are either certain to fail or certain to succeed. That is, if you're throwing rings at a peg, you will either stand so close that you can just lean over and lay down the rings, or you will stand so far back nobody will laugh at you when you miss the target.

There exists, Kelsey argues, a dichotomy between those who fear failure and those who don't. Most self-help books are aimed at the latter, because this phenomenon is so poorly understood. Which is why most of these books don't help any of those who feel inclined to read them.

Those with High Fear of Failure (High FF's) must recognize their disability, then accept it for what it is, and finally plan for how to achieve great things despite of it -- or perhaps with its aid.

In fact, when doing it right, High FF's may have better chances of becoming extraordinary leaders and successful entrepreneurs than others.

Kelsey's book is both personal, instructional and philosophical. Chances are high you will recognize yourself in his anecdotes, and find inspiration in his advise.

I wasn't looking for a book on this particular day, but the title just grabbed me,and before I knew it, the book had jumped into my hand, dragged me to the checkout and paid for itself without me realising. A slight exaggeration maybe, I actually had to pay for it, but I really got the title, it made sense to me, It hit home... What IS stopping ME?? I didn't know there was until I read the book.
It hit home on different levels, putting things off, not following through on started tasks etc. Having read the book I'm driving forward, doing the things I was putting off.I've entered an Adventure race, something I've talked about doing, now I've done it. A HUGE drive impetus and I LOVE IT.

This book made a HUGE difference to my outlook on issues that I didn't know were issues. Get this book if you feel that you put things off or procrastinate on issues , don't get it if these things aren't a problem for you.

I've read a few self-help books and this is certainly one of the better ones, provided you fall into the target demographic (those who have a fear of failure). It is in-depth and draws a great deal of knowledge from the existing literature, at the same time providing helpful suggestions of other good sources. It deals with the intellectual and emotional side of the issue while also providing a lot of practical solutions. Well worth the time and money!

I just finished this book, all I can say is that it's one of the most practical/helpful books on the topic. Clearly the author has been there, done that (has the t-shirt).

If you feel you need a book like this, read it immediately! Hits so many topics that I never linked together (e.g. Causes of procrastinstion).

I'll be revisiting it over and over when personal challenges arise.
