I have a pretty good 6.1 home theater system and this sounds great on sacd. It is definitely worth the money if you have the right equipment to enjoy it. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants and Heathen Chemistry are supposed to be coming out on sacd as well. Can't wait!

I read some of the reviews before I bought the SACD version of this album, and I trusted them. Most of the reviews were bad so I held off on buying it. I thought the sound quality was outstanding and I can tell a huge improvement from the CD and SACD. Definately worth the buy. I hope Oasis does the rest of their albums in SACD form.

Rare SACD disappointment,

I was so looking forward to this release. The masters of these sessions must have been horrible. There's alot of overloading and the channel separation is terrible. Everything is blaring at once, and there's no balance. The vocals are everywhere, and it sounds like he was overloading the microphone. There's no space around the voice.I like a lot of the songs on this album, but this SACD comes off very poorly. I think it's great that the orchestra and some instruments have been isolated in the rear channels and now sound clearer than ever, but the overall sound is still very muddy, distorted, and overloaded. For die-hard Oasis fans with a need to hear these classics in a Multichannel mix.

This album wasn't designed for SACD,

I'm a hardcore Oasis fan. I run the website[..]. I just listed to the SACD of this for the first time today after owning the disc itself for over 5 years, after I FINALLY got a SACD player.I must say, I am extremely disappointed in this SACD. Sure, some sounds are separated to different 5.1 channels like they should be, but like one of the other reviewers stated, the vocal is all over the place. It almost sounds like there is an echo or that you are listening to the album live. In fact, some songs are decent, but others are just horrible. The songs where Noel sings tend to be the better ones. And by the way, the SACD down-mixed MP3's of the album floating around on the internet sound NOTHING like the actual SACD. The MP3s actually sound better, not kidding you. I love Oasis, but Sony screwed this one up. Sorry folks! I am not recommending this to buy.

I was sceptical about a surround mix of an Oasis album. The way the original stereo album was mixed does not seem to lend itself to any separation. But this 5.1 mix works, and it is a definite improvement over the original. Sure, there is not much going on in the surround channels in terms of panning or gimmicky movement of the sound, but what there is here is more subtle and a pleasing "space" is added to the music without losing any of the power. It's certainly a diferent listening experience to the original stereo mix. To cite one example : 'Some Might Say' sounds great here - for the first time you can hear the first snap of the snare drum in the intro which was buried in the original mix. In fact the whole song sounds more balanced and less muddy that is was before. This is pretty much the case throughout the album.I love this album but the original stereo mix could be pretty hard on the ears and frankly it was hard to listen to often. This mix fixes that in a subtle way and makes it enjoyable again. If you're looking for a surround mix that has a lot of movement then I guess you'll be disappointed, but I like this mix a lot.

As another reviewer on this page has written, most of the benefit of SACD surround sound needs the right equipment,if you have it and you like your rock hard & snotty, buy this album before it's deleted/sold out. This is one of the most unusual surround mixes I have listened to.It's not so much a 5.1 mix as it is a surround experience. If you like Oasis and own a SACD player this gives you bucks for your pennies.Maybe bucks should have a capital "B".The music of Oasis is a very thick heavy sound and one would not think of it being a good candidate for surround treatment, what with ALL those guitars played REALLY LOUD and stacked on top of each other there would not seem to be much room to spread things out,BUT they do! This SACD is a great example(along with Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" and Deep Purple's "Machine Head"),of how heavy rock and electric guitars can sound SO SO GOOD!It's as good as having the Gallagher Brothers set up at your place to lay down a few tracks for their next album(if only). You can almost smell the intensity as Liam sneers through the opening track "Hello",and "Champagne Supernova" is like a brand new song.It literally fills the room. Honestly, you feel like your in the recording studio with them! It's no small wonder that the 5.1 mix is as good as it is.Longtime Dire Straits producer Neil Dorfsman was the knob twiddler. He's no slouch at recording/producing a tune or two.I never imagined Oasis in surround sounding so good! Stick it in your player, turn it up and I hope you have understanding/deaf neighbours.****ing Great!

I love the original version of this CD, but the SACD is a rip-off. My title pretty much says it all. I was pretty impressed with the sound on my other SACDs, but this one is a bust. Better luck next time.
