Best Christmas Music in a Decade,
By A Customer
This review is from: What's In That Bag (Audio CD)
Chuck Leavell is known mostly for his supurb work as pianist and keyboardist for the elite artists of the last three decades. Names like The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, The Black Crowes, Bluse Traveler, and so many others have inlisted his tallents. On this disc he not only plays with passion and fire, but the big surprise is how strong his vocals are. His voice ranges from R&B soulful on "Hey Santa" and "Even Santa Gets The Blues" to melodic soothing on the beautiful new standard that he penned, "Bethlehem". This is a MUST for those that don't have it in their collection. We just can't wait for the sequel!! rl

Great mix of R&B and traditional classical Christmas songs,

This CD was given to us with another CD. We did not know if they would be any good or if they were just filler for the box. Chuck Leavell turned out to be a keeper. A wonderful mix of rythym and blues and classical arrangements of traditional Christmas songs. We all love it. Buy it and you won't be sorry.

Not ordinary Christmas music,

Glad to see this in re-release and still available. Chuck Leavell put together a mixture of classic R&B Christmas songs alongside instrumental arrangements of Christmas classics. Chuck also wrote Bethlehem for this CD, and it is a wonderful instant classic. Some of the R&B songs don't suit Chuck's voice. He brings in his fellow Stones' band mate Lisa Fischer to help out on one song. But overall the CD is fun and something different than your usual holiday music fare.
