Good book for aspiring singers,
By Preston (nc) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What's Up Dawg?: How to Become a Superstar In the Music Business (Paperback)
I recall that this book came out several months back, but I never got it. Randy Jackson's book is much better than Simon Cowell's book. He even talks to experts, even agents, producers, record company people, two American Idol finalists and now artists, and songwriters. Would have liked it if he interviewed an already successful multi-platinum selling artist like Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Usher or Jay-Z, but he could only get those who were available. He does overdo the "dawg" thing a little too much in the book, but that's his persona. A lot of my music collection consists of albums that Randy performed on, and for that alone he is a true talent in the best word. This is a long-overdue, much needed book for aspiring singers out there. To those people, don't be surprised if I hear your first album on an open lonely interstate highway and moving to the melodies, rhythms, beats, and sounds of it. And you will credit Randy's book for getting you out there in the business. Randy's book is so well written.

The confession of the American Idol is filled with useful information for the beginner in the music industry. The musician, the song writer, the producer , they are all going to find all the information they need for a successful launch in the music industry. The advice of this experienced man may be considered priceless, the producer has had a lot of experience in the business and what he says may be golden. The book has an easy structure with easy to read fragments and will help propel you to stardom.

This book was great!!! I read other books about the music biz but they arent as good as this one!! I read this in a day and a half. This book is fun and tells you exactly what you need to do to become a star. Randy gives great advice, lots of insider info and lays out everything you need to do to make it. (But it will take a lot of work!!) If you want to become a SUPERSTAR, read this book!!!

Good Tips from American Idol judge Randy Jackson,

This review is from: What's Up Dawg?: How to Become a Superstar In the Music Business (Paperback)
Regardless from what reviewers say or think that this is a piece of garbage or lack of time, I disagree on a few people that this book isn't. Its full of good tips relating to get you the right track whether you want to pursue your dream in the music biz or not. Since reading it, I haven't put it down nor I was dissapointed. I'm happy to learn more from Randy Jackson (whom is the American Idol judge plus a musician, writer and producer) since after reading this book and plus I'm a huge fan to the TV Reality Music show American Idol. Simon Cowell's book I Don't Mean to Be Rude, But... : Backstage Gossip from American Idol & the Secrets that Can Make You a Star is a true must to read into. Excellent interviews and in depth remarks from the people whom Randy interviewed who were in the business and can recommend to anybody who can follow that path. My thing is if you want to go higher and pursue with what you believe in, go for it! There's no denying or nothing holding you back.
Thank God I've been able to learn and play music at an early age and begin study all different genres of music, learning from various artists, and begin to put them all together in use. If I were you, I suggest to read this book to get you rollin' whether if you make it thru the music biz or not. Do what you do best and learn to start from the bottom down until you make thru the top.

This review is from: What's Up Dawg?: How to Become a Superstar In the Music Business (Paperback)
Randy Jackson is the most annoying person on TV. While Simon is entertaining and Paula is cute, Randy is a complete buffoon. This book was written with one thing on his mind... money. This book has no inside info on the entertainment industry and has no insight for those seeking fame and fortune as entertainers. Instead what we have is an egotistical jerk who brags about his success while never admitting he doesn't do anything. If you admire a man who helped bring us the likes of Mariah Carey and NSYNC, go ahead and waste your money because you're an idiot too.
