A New stge in Hip-Hop (hopefully),
By Robert (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What's Up Fatlip (Audio CD)
First off, the track listing on this site is totally off. It's:1.What's up Fatlip?2.Goldmine3.Edy's Groove4.What's up Fatlip? (clean)5.What's up Fatlip? (inst.)6.Goldmine (short)The title track here is absolutely wonderful. Honest, self-depricating and indicative of both emotional sensitivity and intelligent wit, this is truly a rare face on hip-hop. While he did do this sort of stuff with the Pharcyde, in his solo venture it's more purely just him and his own slant. Considering his amount of talent and original style, that's something you just can't get enough of. I recommend this guy to anybody who loves hip-hop.

I havn't yet found someone who does not feel this song on some sort of level. His flow is solid he also has lyrics. This may be a image change from his days with Pharcyde. Props.

One of the funniest things i've ever seen,

First off Fat Lips is the most hilarious mc i've ever had the pleasure of seeing/hearing. The song is tight enough, but when he put the video out for it i was dying. I have respect for him because most mc's would be to proud to be in a video dissing himself and dancing in his underwear (not to mention he got his bike taken by some fat little twelve year old kid). Try to see the video if you can, but get this song any way you can (truly funny stuff).

I'm not hip hop afficionado but I loved this guy. He never made it though, is he even still trying? I remember when the single "what's up fatlip" came out he was gettin a bit of publicity. I really liked it. Then POOF! Dissapeared.

I think Fatlip is gonna over run all the other rappers. Hes got tight beats, an interesting voice, and some crazy lyrics. He has another song that was on the video Yeah Right(the girl skateboarding video). Its called todays ya day. This rapper is a crazy dude and has the best beats for about 6,000 miles.

Great music by Fatlip. This guy sounds like the real deal. Heartfelt music that undoubtedly speaks to many hip hop fans. I also appreciate the self-effacing style of his lyrics. Though such an attitude does not guarantee intelligence, I get the sense that he knows what his listeners want to hear. The title track features a delicious contrast between the sad lyrics and the joyful, circus style samples. I look forward to seeing his video on MTV, and hope to see a full-length solo album soon.

What's up Fatlip? A whole lot!,
By Chris Wilkus (the Windy City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What's Up Fatlip (Audio CD)
Ok, first of all, anyone who thinks this single is lacking in style & flow is out of their minds. The title track is amazing. Fresh raps & great beats are definitely present. My only complaint about the title track is that it's only about 3 1/2 minutes. Other than that, there is definitive proof that Fatlip has a whole lot going on. The other cut on the disc is Goldmine, which is also amazing. Booty rap has never sounded so sweet. This track is all about the booty & i can't see anything wrong with that. Supposedly these songs are off a soon-to-be released Delicious Vinyl comp., but i can only hope that Fatlip releases a full length in the near future. In another review, the fella said he skipped through some of the songs & this can only conclude to me that he doesn't have a good ear for hip hop. Who skims through a track & then feels they have the right to write a negative review about it? Sounds whack to me. Buy this single & then you'll understand me when i say, " Gimme Some Mo Fatlip! " that is all.

First of all, anyone who skips through a track & then disses it outright is clueless. I listen to plenty of hip hop & know the good from the bad. Fatlip's new single is fresh & exciting. The title track is awesome with dope rhymes & smooth beats. Fatlip is certainly showing us that he's got his own thing going on & the other cut GOLDMINE is just as phat. Who can't appreciate a good booty rap? That's what it is, and there is no need to deny it's genius. Supposedly these tracks are from a Delicious Vinly comp. that is not out yet, but one can only hope that a Fatlip full length is in the works. These two tracks are a bit of a tease, but one thing is for sure, the Pharcyde have lost a vital piece of the pie. Buy this & crave more. If you dig Rawkus releases & the Blackout record by Meth & Red, then you will agree with me. What's Up Fatlip? is a good sign of what's to come.... that is all!

Where's the documentary footage?,
By
This review is from: What's Up Fatlip (Audio CD)
Where can one find downloadable footage from the Spike Jonze documentary on Fatlip? I have searched and searched with no results. P.S... Fatlip was always the best member of the Pharcyde. At least he came clean... "Every time I step to the microphone, I put my soul on 2 inch reels that I don't even own." (Devil Music)

I never heard of Fatlip before until a couple of days ago, when I saw his Video on MTV. That song is slamming and has an Old School Feel to it. Its along the lines of a Slick Rick or 'Just a Friend' - Biz Markie. I have yet to hear the whole single, but I know what I Like And I Like FatLip
