Thought provoking- what are our own beliefs based upon?,

This review is from: What's Wrong With Addiction? (Paperback)
Keane's text thoroughly examines the concept of addiction and tackles the title question which most would assume an obvious answer. Her introduction breaks down the fundamental flaw of which much policy is based upon- that there is something inherently wrong with addiction and that it is indicative of a pathological abnormality.
Keane questions why we have deemed 'addiction' as bad and puts it into the context of different substances and lifestyles. Brilliantly written, however, her academic prose tends to be quite wordy at times- often unnecessarily. This apart, an excellent read and highly recommended. |
