5.0 out of 5 stars Stop, this is it . . .
Don't allow your mind to be put off by the "Sailor Bob" moniker. He is the real deal. Over the years, I've read what seems like hundreds of books on higher consciousness and spirituality. Very few have offered the clear and direct message contained in this little book. This is the essence of, That I Am. Some may dismiss it as being over-simplistic and feel the need for...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book for a beginner
The book isn't up to par with Maharaj's works (I Am That, etc.). Sailor Bob is well known for having met Maharaj, but his teaching difers. While Maharaj wants you to stay in the beingness and transcend it, to realize yourself as the Absolute, Adamson just wants to educate you on non-duality. I.e. Maharaj wants to free you of all concepts completely, to be in your...

Very few have offered the clear and direct message contained in this little book. This is the essence of, That I Am. Some may dismiss it as being over-simplistic and feel the need for a sledgehammer approach. Not necessary, or helpful. Do yourself a big favor and read the book. Then Stop, and be what you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars ~from a great 'tradition' comes a very ordinary teacher who destroys ignorance ~, May 3, 2005
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
"What's Wrong with Right Now ...
Unless You Think About It?"
-by "Sailor" Bob Adamson

"Sailor" Bob is, in a word, the Real Deal. Like his Teacher, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj (whose Teachings were popularized in the book "I Am That" from Acorn Press), Bob points unwaveringly to what is Real ... Are you Present and aware? Can you ever say you do not exist? There must be awareness itself to say 'I am not aware!"

At the same time Bob shows us what is NOT real. "Are you separate, an entity? Find it and show it to me." This approach is in the time-tested tradition called "Advaita," yet Bob steadfastly refuses the title of Guru and eschews the whole idea of a Guru and a Disciple as ignorance and duality.

The guy is Bang ON.

So what is a visitor or reader left with? Initially, A great and Wise FRIEND ... a Guide to the Reality ... beyond the dream of "me in a world." ULTIMATELY? Nothing at all. That is what we are ... No Thing. Arising as Every Thing. You are all that is. There is no actual "separation" unless there is a thought of separation ... and when the thought is seen as ONLY a though, like clouds in a perfect empty sky ...the seeker evaporates and it's all over. Then Livingness itself is a celebration.

The word Advaita means "Not Two," which is a rigorous pointer to what Bob calls "One-Without-A-Second" or simply, THAT. All is That. That thou Art.

I spent a few days with Bob in September 2005, and he left 'me' with no Guru, no Teaching, nothing to remember, and nothing to do. (Who would do anything?) In other words, Bob leaves us without US or ME or OTHER ... just AS That, which was sought since the dream of a separate person arrived at around age three. And that is That. Then as doubts and a stubborn refusal to look happened after I got back to California, a few phone calls with Bob (he is very generous with his time) and discussions with a few of his other students, "The Penny Dropped.) And a big laugh bubbled up as I relized there never WAS a penny or anywhere for dropping to happen. An now, alwways Now, nothing is wrong anymore, period. What an incredible gift from no one to no one.

Get to Melbourne and see Bob if you can. He is a rare Treasure in a world of Half-Baked "Teachers of Oneness."

With Bob, in person, via DVD or CD, and in this book (as well his other book "Presence Awareness), you may find that the seeker gradually (or suddenly) fades away, and what is left is Loving Being Awakeness, just this, and nothing else.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will not find the simple truth stated so clearly anywhere else., February 26, 2006
By
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
This is one of the most awesome books I have ever read and has prompted me to look for everything else Sailor Bob has written. The title alone is enough to meditate on and find a firmer footing from which to face this ever changing world of which we are a part. If the real truth is what you seek, you will find it on the pages in this book. In my heart, I wish everyone could have a copy to read over and over again. The world would transform into a much saner place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sailor Bob is the Best There Is, June 25, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
Bob Adamson was a student of Nisargadatta Maharaj in the 70s. He saw what was being pointed out then, and he has subsequently been living it and talking about it for forty years. He deftly communicates this understanding in a way that allows the ready ones to hear what is being pointed out, and to get to the bottom of the nagging spiritual dissatisfaction that plagues them. Bob cleanly cuts to the core of false assumptions and allows one to recognize the freedom that is always present and always has been. If you are ready for the search to be over, you've found a great guy to help you.

Bob Adamson is a living sage and a true shining beacon for those who are tired of seeking. Find out for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Staggering Achievement, August 28, 2010

This book, which is composed entirely of transcripts of some of Bob's talks--is nothing short of staggering. I have read a lot of non-duality over a number of years. There's absolutely no "news" in this book. There's not one whit of new information. There's nothing in there that I don't already know. But the WAY "Sailor" Bob phrases things cuts through thick layers of smoke and clouds and suddenly the sun is shining in places that couldn't even be seen before. And what can't be deeply seen can't be deeply known. There is a level of understanding magnificently transmitted here that changes the way the world is seen.

It is the perfect key. If there is enough surrender in your location to be the perfect lock, things will happen. Extraordinary. Buy the book. Come Home.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Moon than Finger, October 23, 2007
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
I had run across the author a few years earlier on the internet but his words did not reach out and grab me at that time. I rediscovered Sailor Bob through his student, John Wheeler, and find them both to be bearers of the distillation of truth concerning man's essential nature. Whether their books would have saved me 25 years of searching or if they are just confirmations of all that necessary groundwork, I can't say. All I know is the journey is over and they were there when it happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, clear and direct pointing to that which you are!, July 7, 2007
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
This is a book of transcribed talks by 'Sailor' Bob Adamson.

Bob has a gift for using words to point to that which is beyond all words and concepts. As he says - "the word is not the thing - you can't drink the word 'water', the word 'fire' cannot burn you"

This book is like speaking to Bob directly - nothing is lost in the translation. The clarity of Bob's confident understanding comes through brightly on each page.

If you are a "seeker", this book is priceless. If you can read only one - you won't find one clearer than this one. If you're ready to "finally" know what you are beyond all doubts, if you're ready to see through the mind, through all concepts, through your "life story" - get this book. You may not ever "need" to read another.

Bob is truly a gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Place Where There Is No One, May 18, 2007
By
Jerry Katz "Nonduality.com" (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
Sailor Bob's teaching, like Nisargadatta's, is to expose ground of being. Bob's teaching is always showing that the nature of mind is to divide, that "understanding is all" (to quote Nisargadatta), and that understanding arises out of direct experience: right here, right now, full stop, presence awareness.

Interestingly, while reading the book I kept expecting and even looking for a personality of Bob to come through. I can't say I ever found it. I think that that's a rare quality, that clean effort. A person can read this book and not feel the impress of a 'guy', so to speak, even though this is a book of talks consisting of questions and answers. This tells me there is no 'Bob' there. Hence the reader is shown a place where there is no one, either.

5.0 out of 5 stars The title says it all, March 19, 2011
This review is from: What's Wrong with Right Now? (Paperback)
This is a nice book with very clear guidance on the way to an awakened mind. The title of the book is a question which I like to ask myself whenever things seem to get "heavy", and the answer is always the same - nothings wrong with right now unless you think about it. The book is non-dualistic, but directs your awareness through the senses into the present where there is no mind, only clear awareness. A book called The One: (Finding Reality & The Awakening of Spiritual Awareness) has a similar approach and they compliment each other well.

Wow, Sailor Bob, is very clear about the subject of non-duality. He cuts through the complexities with language as clear as can be. I highly recommend it if you are looking for Truth with a capital T. Very helpful for your personal destruction (that's a good thing)! Michael G.
