Being in the fitness field for years, I was a little apprehensive to study another "diet book," but What's Your Diet Type? goes against the conventional method that it's just about "food." It isn't. It is truly about your "type of personality." When you read through this book, not only does it give you great insights to dieting, it speaks to you directly-- it's fun, informative, and self-realizing. Going beyond the simple "diet" approach, this book goes in depth about how and why we struggle with food. It's the foundation to living a healthy and balanced lifestyle to fit your own personal style!

I've played the yo-yo diet game and experienced the short term benefits. Now, for the first time, I feel validated about my eating and dieting styles, which has helped me lose 10 lbs just since the book came out. Not only was I able to see myself in the different styles, but I felt like someone else understood me too. The book was encouraging rather than admonishing. I came away with great alternatives for what to eat when my love for food or grazing habits take over. Heather, Mary and Dr Redard rock. My own copy of the book is already dog eared, and I've purchased many copies for friends because it's a great read whether you have a food issue or not.

Finally a book that recognizes the need to tailor the strategy/approach to losing weight in the exact same way that one would tailor communication to each specific personality type. Every body is unique! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has struggled in the past with a one-size-fits-all diet approach and is looking for sustainable, long term results.

This is a great, totally new concept for people who want to lose weight and keep it off. So much of what we do is driven by our personalities, and finally there's this book that drills down to the fact that so much of what we eat is driven by our personalities. It totally makes sense.

Mary and Lauren have brought a fresh, fun way to think about a topic that consumes way too much of our energy in this country. If we could harness the kilowats in the yo-yo dieting American's engage in, we could become energy independent! What's Your Diet Type tries to bring some sanity by encouraging readers to use their personality type as a guide in choosing an eating plan. Planners like Weight Watchers, Feelers, not so much. This is implementation from the inside-out, with a much greater likelihood of success. Great book. Easy Read.

I purchased this book because Jillian Michaels suggested it on her radio program. I found it to be very informative. It bases our diet type on our personality type much like personality typing such as Meyers-Briggs or People Map. Once you discover your type you then confront and/or embrace your unique diet personality. The book really goes beyond the typical eat this, don't eat that, do this and not that mentality of most diets. It gets to the underlying root causes of why we eat the way that we do and how to change those self-destructive behaviors. It also lays to rest the one size fits all diet mindset. Although there are a limited number of diet types we are all different and what works for one may not work for another. I highly recommend this book for anyone serious about making lifesyle changes and looking to just lose a quick ten pounds.
