A
In my experience, exercise mats can be of varying thicknesses and textures. Yoga mats are usually fairly thin (but comfortable to lie on) and are made of a more non-slip material or texture so that you can comfortably hold a pose without worrying about sliding around on the mat or the mat sliding around on the floor beneath it.

A
an exercise may is thicker and more padded than a yoga mat, which is more meant to lie flat than provide significant padding

A
Not quite sure but a yoga mat is probably thinner than an exercise mat.
