This book shows you what is inside things like your body, machines, nature, and buildings. It teaches you what each part is and then tells you what it does or how it works. One thing that I think is neat is that there are over 600 muscles in your body! Girls and boys, K-2, would like this. There are cute characters that guide you through the book. There are few words on each page. The writing is easy to understand and really interesting. The illustrations are cool. They are simple and colorful. I love the facts throughout the book and the see-through pages the best. The ones I like the most are the “What’s inside your head?” which shows different parts of the brain and the “What’s under the ground?” which shows a whole world underneath our feet. That’s pretty cool. At the back of the book, you can draw pictures inside boxes, doors, trees, and more then hold the page up to the light to see what you’ve drawn. I like everything about this book, really. It’s awesome.

It may be hard to find a person of any age who does not find something interesting here, because the book offers a plethora of cleverly illustrated explanations to answer questions children have. You can begin anywhere, and the book was a lot fuller than I expected. The muted colors may not immediately appeal to jaded American children, but once they get drawn in they will want to keep coming back.

The x-ray feature is relatively limited because the pages are just made of a thin paper stock, and the book is so large that it becomes tiring to hold it up to peek through. Once they get the idea, and understand that the back side of every page shows what's behind the object on the other side, most kids will probably just turn the pages quite happily.

I bought this book for my nephew for his 4th birthday. I thought it was a great way to introduce certain ideas and concepts in a non-threatening and appealing way. He absolutely LOVES it.

Book doesn't work the way it professes to. Cannot see through the pages when held up to light. Useless.
