Excellent resource for going gluten-free!,
By C. Wong "www.organicfamilymagazine.com" (Connecticut, United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wheat-Free, Worry-Free: The Art of Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Living (Paperback)
This book provides readers with an excellent overview of how to live a gluten-free life. It covers the basics of digestion and why certain people need to go gluten-free, how to remove wheat and gluten from the diet, and the emotional issues involved with a diet change. Additionally, it covers how to deal with eating out, what you CAN eat, shopping, menu planning, travel tips, etc. It also deals with how to talk to friends, family and strangers about the diet. Recipes, index and a 26-page resource directory are included. The author is an expert on the subject and the founder of R.O.C.K. (Raising Our Celiac Kids), a support group for families with celiac disease.

A MUST HAVE,
By Karen Fine "Author of How I Eat Without Wheat" (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wheat-Free, Worry-Free: The Art of Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Living (Paperback)
This is a must have book for parents of Celiac kids. It is the most up-to-date book on the market and includes a CURRENT list of approved foods/additives. That's very helpful if you have a dietician like mine who gave me an outdate list from 2001. Much has changed. For example, some vinegars are okay. Which means some mustards and ketchups etc are okay. My favorite part is page 193 where it starts a list of suggested meal items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Extremely helpful when you find yourself in the kitchen after a long day and you're wondering what is safe to feed your child. There are a lot of regular food items that are safe. I bought extra books for my family and care givers because the first chapter explains all about the disease. Very helpful because I fumble with the explanation about how any amount of gluten is poison to the system. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

While waiting for blood tests results on my son, I picked up this book at the health food store. I stayed up late for three nights in a row reading. I feel this book will really help us deal with the in s and outs of a gluten free diet. My son's blood tests came back inconclusive and the doctor has decided not to do a biopsy at this time, but just trying out a gluten free diet for a week after his blood was drawn has made up my mind that even if he doesn't have Celiac, we all noted a significant improvement in his behavior and his health. This book helped me identify many symptoms of gluten intolerance in myself and as of Saturday (when a girlfriend is coming to pick up all the products in my kitchen that contain gluten (and there are a lot)); the whole family is going to go on a gluten free diet for at least six months. Those of us that see no difference will go back to eating what they want, the rest of us will stay gluten free.
The book is geared towards a Celiac diagnosed person, but anyone who is following a gluten free diet for various reasons will find help and encouragement here.

An Easy and Fun Read That Covers All the Bases,
By Dennis (O.C. CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wheat-Free, Worry-Free: The Art of Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Living (Paperback)
I felt so lucky to stumble onto this book.
"Once considered a rare condition, celiac disease is now thought to be the most prevalent genetic disorder in the world," says author Danna Korn. She goes on to say that, "for every diagnosed celiac, 89 go undiagnosed." This comprehensive resource really puts it all together. Divided into three basic sections, the book covers everything from: a definition of the disorder, related/associated disorders, how to talk to your doctor, lists of safe and unsafe foods, all about grains, menu planning, recipes, nutritional requirements, testing, the emotional side of CD and a host of other invaluable topics. For some, a gluten-free diet is just a healthier choice. But for just over a million of us in the US, it isn't an option, it's a necessity. This book is a lifesaver in a health care environment that isn't as knowledgeable as it could be.

Excellent book!,
By Sarah J. Mills (West Sacramento, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wheat-Free, Worry-Free: The Art of Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Living (Paperback)
This book is a must have for celiacs. Since my husband was diagnosed, we have read many of the more popular books on celiac disease, and none of them have been nearly as helpful as this book. The tone the author uses is positive, and she doesn't use scare tactics to convince celiacs that they need to be careful with their diets, as many of the other books do! This book also contains more scientific information than any of the others, which will be appreciated by people who want to know exactly what is going on with their bodies. I would purchase this book first, and then follow up by ordering cookbooks, etc.

A must-read if gluten-free,
This review is from: Wheat-Free, Worry-Free: The Art of Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Living (Paperback)
This book is upbeat, practical, funny, and extremely comprehensive. The author has left no stone un-turned, covering the full gamut of the challenges associated with gluten-free living. The beauty is that even though you're reading about a "disease", you'll walk away from this book somehow feeling like you're one of the "lucky ones" who has found the key to better health. At our company, we like this book so much that we put it on our home page at gluten solutions dot com so that everyone new to the diet is sure to find this resource. I've read almost every gluten-free book on the market, and this one is tops.

This book should be required reading for all medical doctors to prevent years of unnecessary suffering for yet-to-be-diagnosed Celiacs. I wish I had been told about this wonderful resource at the time my daughter was been diagnosed. It is the best source of information on Celiac Disease that I have found.

Informative,
This review is from: Wheat-Free, Worry-Free: The Art of Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Living (Paperback)
This book has alot of information that was really helpful for me with the celiac disease that I have been diagnosised with this past month. What the doctors didn't probably think to tell me I learned out of this book. I now have a better understanding with this disease on what to expect in the future. This book covers alot of different areas from recipes, what foods to avoid, web sites to contact for more information, etc. I highly reccommend this book to anyone who has Celiac Disease to help them better understand what their life is going to be like in the future.
