Product Description

Wheatena is a toasted wheat product with unique taste and 25% more fiber than the leading brand. In 1879, a small bakery in New York City began roasting whole wheat, grinding it and selling it in packages called Wheatena. That same great taste is still available today!

This is the great cereal of my childhood (which used to be produced in a town named "Wheatenaville", honest! It has tons of fiber and a nutty taste and really stick-to-the-ribs breakfast. Even my little 18 month old grandson loves it.

Glad I could find it at Amazon. However, one caveat: the price that its sold at plus shipping makes this a gourmet indulgence indeed. Buyer, beware. You've gotta love it to buy it. However, I bought a case of it anyway.

The product specs describe it enough and so have the other reviewers. It's a HOT breakfast cereal. Best to add just a pinch (not more) of salt when you cook it to bring out all the flavor. When done, add milk (I like it just right, not too thick and not too runny) then a dash of sugar (or some Splenda). Especially on a cold winter day, you have yourself one of the healthiest cereals around. For sure!

I had Wheatena as a kid, and always liked it, went searching for it recently and found it on Amazon. It is as I remembered and great to have back.

Thanks,

Paul Hart

A childhood favorite, once made in my hometown of Rahway, N.J. When the wind blew right you could smell it roasting.

My wife and I are old timers and remember Wheatena from many years go. We haven't been able to find it on the shelves of any local stores and so the on line order. The Wheatena of today seemed not as good as we remember it from earlier years. It has a grainier consistency. I decided to experiment and added some Cream of Wheat and somehow the outcome resulted in what we remembered to old Wheatena to be. Specifically, we salted two cups of water, mixed one-fourth cup Wheatena with one-third cup
of Cream of Wheat and we found our answer.

I grew up on this cereal and missed it whenever my family was eating other hot cereals which I don't care for. I put the boxes in a ziplock in the freezer and take out one at a time as I finish a box. Friends from the east coast have a tendency to "borrow" a box when they see them in my freezer!
