The very best books ever writen!,
By Chris Schroader (bassfunk@gte.net) (Seattle) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
This series is so great, other books pale in comparison. If you are not an avid reader the task may be daunting. These books are large and very complex, but the great thing is they read so easy you forget your reading. I can't explain how great these books are. The characters and the story line are so deep and rich. Another thing I realy like about this story, is the fact that the women in these books are strong, dedicated, inteligent, influencial, powerful and just as capable as a man(if not more so), and don't just hide behind their male hero. The only downside to these books, is the need to read more. At this time there are 8 books in the series, and there should be only two left to go(from what I've heard). Jordan only releases a new book every couple of years. Even with the possible wait for the next books. I can say that it is definatley worth the wait. I just hope the world doesn't end before I finish the last book writen, and I get the chance to read it. After that, I'll be ready.

The Wheel of Time set ( all eight books),
By Martha Williams (Evening Shade, AR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
I found the first book,"Eye of the World" at my local library and started reading. "Eye of the World" was so good, that I was up all night reading, I could not stop, I thirsted for the next book, "The Great Hunt." Very absorbing, could not put it down. My local library, had to send out for the next five books. I had to wait several weeks just to start on the next book, but when the book "Dragon Reborn" came in I didn't get much done except reading. Even though the books are thick, small print and heavy, even for paperback, the story line keeps you engrossed by the twists and turns and you feel transported into the book of magic, goodness, evil and unimaginable people, animals, and places. I cannot wait for BOOK 9. I keep checking everywhere to get the first rush orders for the next book in this eight book series that is so spellbinding.

Wheel of Time Series-Where's Book Nine? ;>,
By "bluesbaby" (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
A few years back I accidentally stumbled onto The Fires of Heaven, which is the fifth book in the series. Reading that book set me on fire, and I immediately searched out the preceding books to find out how the story had developed. Since that time I have re-read this series several times, all the way now to book 8.... and I am amazed at Robert Jordan's ability to weave this spell on his readers. Anxiously I await the final book! This fantasy land has become as real to me as our own archeological history. Jordan has succeeded in paralleling our own histories, and creating analogous fantasy societies, countries, peoples, all with a sense of realism not found in most fantasy writings. He truly brings it all to life.

An adventurous break from reality,
By Charles Beasley (Sonora CA.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
I was involved in a motor cycle accident that put me in a bed for 2 months, and all I had to do was read. I have never been a fan of fantasy, because the stories were all simple and were not REAL enough. A friend of mine gave me the first book and at first I hesitated, but it would have been the worst mistake in my life if I had not read it. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series astonished me. I never thought I could find any book so captivating, and I have read a lot of books. He has brought the fantasy world a book that to my belief will never be surpassed. In the book several characters are pulled from their everyday live and thrown into the worst possible senario, in which they find out who they really are while trying to stay alive and seal the prison of the dark one. This story has so many twists and turns that it is almost impossible to believe. I found myself thinking that I was Rand and when that book was over wondering were his world ended and reality began. I feel as though I have been through all the hardships with them and they are all my friends. I do not want this story to end. After book 9 and 10 I hope that atleast he takes on another series, with the same characters so I don't have to loose all that I already have with Rand, Perrin, Matt, Egwenn, ect. Words cannot even begin to describe this wonderful story that you must read.

I am an avid fantasy reader and i probably devour 4-6 books a month. The Wheel of Time series has left me craving book 9. The Emond's Fielders have turned out to be my new best friends. Rand's dilemma has only grown, and the same goes for his fellow ta'veren, Perrin Golden Eyes and our curiously lucky friend Matt. The women are in just as deep as the men. I cannot wait to see how Egwene handles Elaida, or how Faile handles the complex First of Mayenne. Whatever Fate brings for this group, you can bet I'll be there too.

The Wheel of Time fantasy series,
By Elizabeth Hay (LaPorte, IN U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
These novels are above and beyond Tolkien. Except for the last two, they have moved along as fast as I could hope. It is so heartwrenching to see these people, our friends, get into so many troubles. The greatest complement I can give to a book is this: it makes me believe that I am truly in another time and place. Every single one these books did that. I would read for two hours, completely oblivious to my surroundings, and look around, disoriented and confused, as if I had just woken up from a dream.

This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
Another great installment from the author.... However I do wonder whether he is going to milk this franchise to supplement his future pension plan. Would like to see a little more progress to an end result. I would be most dissappointed if there was a decision not to conclude the series after spending to get this far.

This is the best series of all time, defying genre.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
A few years ago, my mother picked up Eye of the World for me on sale in paperback. I really liked it, so I bought the Great Hunt. About halfway through, something inside me broke and I became a Jordan Zombie, taking my sustainance from his books. I write fantasy myself (short stories, mostly) and am astounded by the depth of plot, character, and the sheer enormity of this series. It is more addictive than anything I've ever come across, yet also better plotted than ninety-nine percent of "intelligent" sci-fi (gibson et. al.) out there. After reading A Crown of Swords it surpassed Dune to become my favorite series of all time. The PAth of Daggers certainly didn't disappoint, yet it was like all of Jordan's multi-page behemoths in that it was too short despite the fact that the combined weight of the series has broken my bookshelf. If anyone is reading this who actually hasn't read the series, I would ask you to pick up the first one. If you don't like it, or if you aren't convinced enough to continue, then do yourself a favor and don't, because eventually, if you continue, Mr. Jordan WILL get his hooks into you and you WILL be compelled to buy new hardbacks at thirty bucks a pop. If, on the other hand, you are intrigued... liquidate some assets, and forge ahead. You'll need a comfortable chair and a cozy pair of eyeglasses, because all that reading will damage your petty visual organs. You may damage your sight, but once you have read these books you will SEE. I don't know, it's quite impossible to explain, but pick up the first one in paperback on discount and give it a shot. Hell, try the library. Fantasy will never be the same. As innovative as the man himself, Tolkien was, Jordan gives new life and new direction, new scope and new artistry to a new generation of fantasy.

A must for sci-fi/fantasy fans,
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
I have read each of the books in the Wheel of Time set and I have to say I have not, to date, encountered another story so convoluted, and riveting. This story's plot is rich. There are so many layers to this story, and with each subsequent volume you are drawn father into this world that Robert Jordan has created. The characters are wonderful considering how many main ones there are. Each one is developed beautifully and could stand alone as the hero of another story. I will admit though, that sometimes I need to check to back of the book to establish who a minor character is. I'm so involved with the story I can't wait for the next volume(#9 I think). With 8 already it's not for the casual reader. These being no mere 500 page volumes.

The Pattern threads keep you hooked.,
By Beth Horner (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World, the Great Hunt, Dragon Reborn, Shadow Rising, Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, Crown of Swords, and Path of Daggers (Hardcover)
I began reading the Wheel of Time Series upon friends recommendations. It is beautifully written, and each character has it's own flaws and perfections. He describes them in ways that not only take you back to another time, another world, but you can see characters and attitudes of today's world in them. Especially in the ongoing battle between men and women. These books will make you an instant fan of this genre, and absorb you quickly into a new world. You should hop into on of these wonderful plots today.
