The Wheeler Torque Wrench is a great little tool. Some years ago I over torqued and stripped some scope ring threads, so I have tended to treat them gingerly since then. After checking the screws with this tool, I discovered I have been under torquing the screws on all my scopes which would put them at risk for moving under recoil. I would have given this tool 5 stars except for the following critique: (1) the set is difficult to keep together since it does not come with a small carrying case for the tool and the driver bits - in this day when any $10 multi-piece tool from Home Depot has its own case for the various components, I should not have to use a Tupperware container for the tool and bits; (2) the only reference guide provided regarding the proper torque settings for various screw types is on the cardboard backing in the package - once again, one should not have to retain the packaging material as a referencer guide - this should be a small card or booklet inserted in the previously mentioned carrying case on a tool this expensive.

I was cautious to order this wrench because of the previous reviews: crude adjustments, no carrying case etc...Well I was surprised when it arrived with its own hard plastic case. It held the wrench itself and all the bits securely. It also had a paper insert (instructions) that you could keep in there. The adjustments are not in 10 in-lbs increments, rather 5 in-lb increments. But you can make finer adjustments if you're not a moron. Maybe it seems "Wheeler" listened and addressed most, if not all of the previous complaints. This is a great little wrench that is very useful if you work on firearms or any small precision parts.

Given what other Torque wrenches cost, I sort of purchased this expecting it to be a piece of junk. Boy was I wrong. Very solidly built, and the model I received (in 2011) included a plastic molded case with the wrench and the bits. Also included: A manual describing the care and use, and a calibration card.

So, I was hesitant to pick this up... After reading a few of the reviews, I thought it may be a dud. Then, another buyer (Amazon confirmed) posted a review stating that the F.A.T. wrench now came with a case, and explained the adjustment mechanism (does do 5 lb - 65 lb @ 5 lb increments). Because of that review I decided to squeeze the trigger (pardon the pun). This torque wrench is exactly what I needed. Works flawlessly, and can't find a thing to complain about. The price is 1/3 the cost of similarly functional devices. If you were wondering about this item, don't. It will do what you are hoping that it will do!

Very Useful,

This is a torque driver/wrench not a screwdriver. I find it most effecitive when torquing down the last few turns on the screw or nut. The accesories that accompany the driver are not the most useful and would probably result in frustration if one were trying to use it as a standard screwdriver. I usually use my Craftsman bits instead.

Wheeler Firearms Accurizing Torque Wrench is an excellent well made tool. I wish it had come with a few more hex wrenches, and I wish that it would do under 10-inch pounds, which would have worked better for my Weigand rail mount. The description says it'll go down to 2-inch lbs., but I don't see any increments for anything less than ten. However, it will work fine when I can use it. My first job will be to torque to proper specs the gas-block screws on a Ruger Mini-14, which is 30-inch lbs torque, but I will need to locate 9/64 hex first. Maybe I'll just break down and buy the NEW WHEELER 89-PIECE DELUXE GUNSMITHING KIT. Although, purchasing an individual hex would be much less expensive.

I have used it one time mounting a scope on my rifle and I it was easy to set and use. I am very pleased with the tool and recommend it for anyone working on their rifle/pistol.

As advertized. It did come with a case. Bits may be a little soft as I seemed to have stripped a hex bit on a scope ring at the suggested torque setting.

They've gotten it right now! Early reports complained about the lack of a case and of bits falling out due to a non-magnetized bit holder, but I'm happy to share that both of these have been corrected. I also checked the torque settings and was pleasantly surprised by the relative accuracy.
