Color-Changing Magic
The Color Blaster functions like a miniature water park for your Hot Wheels cars. It is constructed from sturdy, durable plastic. The car-spraying platform is grated and sits atop a basin for collecting stray water to reduce the mess from spraying the car. Still, parents should keep in mind that this is a wet toy, and it is best used for play outdoors.

With all of the waterworks, this play set helps make the most of color-shifting cars. It comes with a removable spray gun, which can be used to spray the cars with bursts of water. Also included are two removable, easy-to-fill reservoirs that hold hot and cold water. Dip a Color Shifter halfway into one of the tanks to create a striped effect. Once the color shift is complete, kids can pull a lever on the side to make the car race down the winding red ramp.

High-Speed Hot Wheels Action
The playset comes with one Hot Wheels Color Shifter car. Like all Hot Wheels cars, it is fast and expertly crafted, but with a difference -- it changes colors when exposed to water. When sprayed with cold water, it changes from neon green to an icy blue. The original green color can be restored with hot water. Please note that the cold water will have to be close to ice-cold -- lukewarm water will change the car back to its original color.

There are dozens of other Color Shifter cars available from Hot Wheels to add to the play set including a color-changing Lancer Evo, and an undercover police cruiser. Whatever the car, the Color Blaster station provides everything kids need for fast color changes as they play.

Definitely search for this at a retail store you'll pay between $[...]. It took me a couple weeks to locate one, however. The unit is very sturdy and not that messy, though it is clearly only an outdoor toy. Don't kid yourself that it can be managed inside! The spray bottle only rests in a depression, it can be picked up and is very easy to refill. It has a rounded shape which makes it very easy to turn and tilt in the depression in order to direct your spray from any angle. There are hot and cold water reservoirs with lids which hold approximately 5-6 oz. each. A removable small basin catches the spray water drips beneath the cars. When you have changed your car color, a lever may be pulled which raises the car and makes it slide down the curvy drive. A spring arm thrusts the car at the end of the ramp away from the base unit. The swing arm must be manually reset for each car-no biggie. My boys love the play value of this unit and it adds tremendously to the enjoyment of the color changing cars. The cars change color very quickly and easily. We have found it works best with just warm tap water, but then ice water. Cars can be dipped in the water reservoirs to make them half and half, or dipped in the water whose temperature will quickly reset the color to be changed again. Two thumbs WAY up!!! The color changing cars can also be found in retail stores for about $[...]-I got most of mine at Walmart (as a two pack; 1 color changer, 1 regular hot wheels car) for $[...]. I haven't seen the two-packs offered anywhere but Walmart.

My 4 yr old son loves to spray anything, so this is perfect. It really keeps him occupied and excited.

A few things to keep in mind, though. This is a toy that requires a lot of your attention. The hot water must be hot and the cold, cold. I end up making a lot of trips to the sink for him. You also have to dump the water out of the little catch pan every so often. And you have to dump water out of the entire thing every so often. It catches quite a bit of water, but it will make a wet mess.

The cars seems to wear out after about 30 minutes, and once they sit and get back to room temperature they are fine. So I just bought a few extra cars and keep some up for my son and rotate them. And if the cars aren't changing colors, you water probsbly needs to be colder (put ice in the spray bottle).

To add something else to it, I gave my son a toothbrush and a paintbrush so he can "paint" the cars too. He likes to make stripes and spots.

Even with the hassel, my son loves it and it is completely worth it. We've only had it a week, so I can't comment on the durability. Some small parts that with really rough treatment, they will probably break.

Highly recommended if you kid loves cars, water or just loves to see how things work! And it is not too expensive either (it was cheaper at Target).

My 3-year-old son loves his color shifters cars, so we bought him this to go with the cars (before he was just using tupperware containers with hot/cold water). Honestly, while it is fun for him and he likes it, I was disappointed. It is a lot smaller/flimsier than I expected it to be and think that for the price we paid, we should have just bought a squirt bottle and used some car tracks and tupperware that we already had.
