Hot Wheels Custom Motors Power Humvee Set

Got this for my 5 y/o, since he really likes vehicles and has begun building things himself. This turned out to be an excellent toy for him. He also received the larger "Mobile Mechanic Set" as a gift, and now has more parts to swap among the vehicles. However, I expected virtually all parts to work with all vehicles, but some do not fully engage, though they look like they should. It seems that some of the mating areas were designed almost the same, but not close enough for 100% compatibility. The parts stay on the cars reasonably well, considering they need to snap on/off, but some pieces won't hold up to much jarring -- kinda like LEGOs. I don't know if it's worth the regular price, but if you can get one for about $10, I think it's worth it for a child that is in the early stages of building.

First off, a piece was missing. Not good. My 6 year old had great difficulty putting the wheels on. He asked me to help and the same thing happened. I wish I had not bought him two different sets.

My son just turned 6 and picked this out with a gift card he received for his birthday. Within 2 hours of this being out of the box, I managed to break one of the axles off inside one of the wheels. I felt horrible and called Mattel customer service and explained what happened. They told me they would be mailing a voucher for the full price of the toy so we could pick up a replacement. I was impressed and my son was excited that his new toy would soon be "fixed". The voucher arrived within a few days just as promised and to my surprise it was good towards ANY product by Mattel or Fisher Price. We went back to the store to buy the replacement and my son said he didn't want another one because it was "boring". He instead picked out the Hot Wheels Tub Racers. Hopefully that set doesn't become too boring too soon???

The kids loved playing with these and other models of the same series. They started out so tight fitting that I had to put most of the parts on for them. After little use though, the parts got loose and wouldn't stay joined. Several have broken where they attach too. It's too bad the quality was so poor because it was a fun toy for young children.

Got this for my 4 year old and he played with it for about 15 minutes and never touched it again.

The pieces take a lot of force to put together and the parent will end up doing all the work. The pieces also don't fit well together.

The wheels come with a set that doesn't move and does move and it is hard for a child to distinguish which wheels go on the correct axle. Put the wrong wheels on and the truck doesn't move at all.

The customization options are few and there is really no long term replay value for this toy.

Don't buy it.
