Debuted at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1962, the car dominated the world sports car championships and won the World Manufacturer’s Championship three years in a row: 1962, 1963 and 1964. Not only an exceptionally capable racing car, but also one of the most beautiful shapes ever to grace a Ferrari chassis, the 250 GTO became one of the most desired cars. Only 39 cars were ever built which makes it also one of the most valuable collectable cars ever. At the beginning of the Hollywood movie Vanilla Sky, Tom Cruise drives a dark blue Ferrari 250 GTO through the deserted blocks of New York City. Autumnal multicolored leaves litter Central Park, and the glass facades of the banks reflect the darkly painted silhouette of the classic racing car, before it stops in the middle of an abandoned Times Square. It’s a classic moment for a classic vehicle.
