We bought my son this motorcycle racing set for Christmas because he has so much fun playing with it at school. As soon as he unwrapped it at home, it seemed Christmas was over for him because all he wanted to do was play with this toy. I told him I would put it together once we were all done opening gifts. Once we were done, I attempted to screw the metal screw into the metal shaft so you could crank the lever. It would not fit. The handle fit on fine, but what good is a handle if you can't screw the crank onto the toy itself. I thought no big deal we'll go get another one. So, back to Kohls we went 2 days later. Got another one, and same issue. It seems Mattel has made an error in manufacturing the toy by putting the wrong size tap in the manufacturing line to thread the shaft for the screw to fit. I am not looking forward to seeing my sons face when he learns that the one toy he was wanting to play with, does not work again. Hopefully Mattel will fix this issue soon. Now, off I go to find another brand.

I bought this toy 4yrs ago and I have 2 boys (6 and 3yrs old)which still use it today and that is the reason why I am writing this review. Most of the toys break, parts get lost or simply loose their appeal over the years. Even now I have to say that my boys had tons of fun with it already and still love it. It survived all those years despite regular usage and oftentimes bad treatment (one motorbike fell into a lake during boat trip and had to get rescued in a diving mission).
Net, I definetely recommend this toy and whether it is educational or not depends on how the dad engages into the game - you can explain all the physiccal principles of kinetics and friction behind hit and run tests how far it reaches depending on the surface friction (runs better on tiles and hardwood floor than on carpet). The issue with the handle that was described in other reviews is indeed an opportunity for a somewhat better assembly description. The crank handle needs to be tightened with a anti-lock screw, i.e. you need to tighten the screw counterlockwise .... took me more than 20minutes and some frustration until I figured it out.
