3.0 out of 5 stars Review
The toy over all is great, but a problem I'm having after 2 weeks is that the battery charger button is failing. The button to see how much battery power is left is defective.

If you're looking for a smooth street ride, this is not for you but if you like mud and off roading like my boys, this is the one you want.

fisher price power wheels kawasaki kfx ninja ultimate terrain atv/quad: I decided to purchase this toy based upon one factor. It's the five year old next door. This very active child can destroy practically anything in no time at all. He received this quad as a Xmas gift and brought it outdoors early this spring. He ran full speed into tree trunks, over high curbs, through grass, mud, hills, etc. If the quad wouldn't go where he wanted it to go he would do whatever it took to make it go there. I really find it hard to believe that any toy could take such abuse and continue to operate. Anyway, I decided to get one for my granddaughters to use when they visit. They're not nearly as abusive to the toy but they still have a ball. My son assembled it in a short time. I charged the battery and off the girls went. In fact I just ordered a second one for my youngest grandchild for her birthday in July. There's just nothing bad that I have found related to this toy. I have riders from 38 to 70 pounds riding it with no difficulty or apparent strain on the battery. If I could offer one suggestion to the company it would be to make it in different colors. Also, if you are considering buying a quad such as this, be sure it is made by FISHER PRICE. I saw another quad recently that looked just like ours but was much cheaper and flimsy in construction though not in price. ENJOY

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but BEWARE of Fisher Price policy!!!, June 30, 2008

The Power Wheels Ninja is a good product: Easy to assemble, solid chassis, decent battery life and a breeze for the kids to drive. The battery indicator is a nice touch too. Your kids will love it, hands down.

But ***BUYERS BEWARE*** If you buy Fisher Price merchandise online, you are taking a big risk!!! If your product arrives broken or has missing parts--you might get screwed over by Fisher Price.

I bought my Ninja from Amazon.com (with whom I've always had a good experience). When I started putting it together, I noticed that the gear assembly was broken. The manual says to call Fisher Price customer service (it specifically says to NOT call the merchant). When I called Fisher Price, they said that 1)They were unable to send me that particular part 2)The nearest repair center was too far away from me 3)They would not be able to send me a new Power Wheels ("We don't have any." What? You're Fisher Price. How could you not have any?)

The only thing they were willing to do is send me a refund. I figured "cool, sounds good to me". But here's the catch. They WILL NOT REFUND YOUR SHIPPING COSTS. From Amazon.com, I paid a whopping $54.00 for shipping. Fisher Price said that they would not refund my shipping because, quote: "You should have bought it from a retail store, who does not charge shipping. You take a risk when you buy online". They also told me that, in order to receive the refund I would have to cut off the battery harness from the Ninja and mail it to them (because doing so renders the product "disabled"). Additionally, it would take up to 6 weeks for me to receive the check in the mail.

So here I am: my young boy is totally excited about this big new toy in the garage and I have to break his heart and tell him that it will be two months before he can ride his toy (one week to get the wiring harness to Fisher Price, six weeks waiting for the refund, and another week in buying a replacement Ninja from Amazon.) Adding to the nonsense is the fact that we have a brand-new "disabled" Power Wheels that we literally have to throw into the trash can (what a terrible waste and an environmentally irresponsible policy, don't you think?). The worst part: I lost $54.00 in shipping costs through absolutely no fault of my own. Gee whiz, Fisher Price really cares about customers, huh?

I would bet my life that Fisher Price sells almost as many products online as through retail stores. This is year 2008...most people shop online! For them to tell me that I'm "taking a risk buying online" is totally asinine. If I didn't see this Ninja available online, I guarantee I would not have even purchased it in the first place. There are not any retail stores that sell this product within 30 miles of where I live. It's common sense: online sales are a simple reality of life these days. C'mon Fisher Price, get real!

While I am on the subject of Fisher Price, let me warn you about another product: The Fisher Price Digital Arts & Crafts Studio. This is a tablet-style toy for kids that you plug into your computer and are able to draw and paint with. Very cool idea. However, I when I bought it (December of 2007), the software it came with was terribly glitchy. Every time my daughter played with it, the program would freeze up and fail. Fisher Price said that this was a "known issue" and that they would be posting an update online for it very soon. Well, it took THREE MONTHS for them to post the update. And when I finally installed the update, the USB-connected tabled no longer worked. It wouldn't power on at all. Fisher Price refused to refund my money because, quote "You have passed the warranty time".

Beware of Fisher Price. They don't care about customers. They just want your money.

We ordered this on Sunday and it was delivered on Tuesday! It took maybe 20 minutes to assemble. Very easy.
My grandson will turn 3 in 3 weeks. He rode this the first try like a pro. Grass was wet and this was no problem. My only change would be an off switch. Other than that its great.

I got my 3-year old this unit for Christmas seven months ago. I read the reviews and was mildly apprehensive as many told stories about the gears getting stripped. I got the unit anyways and my son LOVES it. We live in the woods outside of Boston, MA where it handles the terrain better than any other similar product in this class. He even goes through 3 - 5 inches of muddy water. The product has held up well, but there is a caveat to my story.

First, I did not initially enable the "turbo" speed so my son could get used to the unit. (He is only three.) That lasted about two weeks. Additionally, due to a concern about the gears, I switched around the wires for the reverse button so that the unit only goes forward regardless of which button is pressed. (** Although no wire-cutting is involved in doing this, I don't recommend you do it if the warranty is of any concern to you, as it might void it. **) Here seven months later, the unit is still wired this way. My son doesn't know that the unit is capable of backing up. If my son runs head-long into something, (yes he must wear a helmet), I taught him to get off the unit and reposition the unit himself. My wife and I are debating as to when to introduce reverse, as we still fear the gear-grinding issue.

My son is wearing out the rear tires quickly as he rides on pavement a lot too. I may rotate the tires soon to prevent them from becoming completely smooth.

Overall, I think the unit is good and I recommend it, although I don't know how well it holds up with the ability for a child to quickly switch the unit into reverse on the fly.

I purchased this item for my twin boys. They were both sharing a motorized Jeep so we thought they needed something new. When we saw the price of this item (thanks Amazon for everyday low prices) we jumped on it.

Well, it's been about a month since the kids started playing with it and they love it! It has a fairly robust built to it and is holding up very well. My kids ride it on the sidewalk, in the driveway, and all over the grass. They have been jumping curbs with it also, all without any damage or issues! The battery has been lasting about 2 days (about 1.5 hours of use per day) before needing a charge. We just plug into the wall outlet and let it charge over night and it is good to go the next day.

I highly recommend this purchase to all. Your kids will love it.

After all of the research I've done on the internet about children's ATVs, I know I've made the right decision. I've looked into more expensive (and cheaper) toys, and this one was the middle of the road as far as pricing goes. I've read the reviews on this ATV, and all had great things to say, so I went ahead ordered one for our son's 3rd birthday (it was due to ship in 1 to 2 months, so I ordered plenty early). It arrived, all pieces intact, in just 3 days! My neighbor and I assembled it within 15 minutes, and we kept it in his garage so as not to spoil the surprise. Needless to say, we just couldn't wait 2 more months, so we gave it to our son the next day (battery charged overnight for 18 hours, as per the directions). He's used it every day for 1 week, and battery is STILL holding it's charge. Turbo throttle is no problem, and the back up feature is great. I highly recommend this ATV for any parents looking for a durable, easily operable toy that will last until your son/daughter reaches to 70 lb. weight limit.

We bought this ATV for my son for his 2nd birthday in September. He loves it! This quad is super easy for him to ride and goes on just about any surface! He loves riding it our front on the street and tearing up the neighbors nice rock front yards! It's two speed option was an advantage but to be honest he only ever goes one speed......fast! He has so much fun on this quad, it is easy to steer, his coordination skills have really improved just riding this thing...The 12volt battery lasts about 4 hours which considering how he drives it I feel is pretty good.

My only complaint about this quad would be the wheels and honestly if he just road it on the road it would be fine but he likes to off road on the rocks and dirt and the back wheels ended up getting pretty torn up! We just got some old bike tire rubber and stuck it on the wheels which he loves because it gives him more traction!

This ATV will give your kids endless hours of fun!

Bought this item for my 2 yr old. Took him about 1 month to get the hang of the pedal and hand control and then he was off. He rides it all the time. The battery life is very good. I would definitely recommend it. the dual 2.5 and 5.0 speeds are a great plus and the auto brake when he lets off the throttle is nice as well. Great first time ride!
