5.0 out of 5 stars Star Trek Hot Wheels nice collectable , hope to see more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as nice as the picture
It looks way better in the picture. Most of this is plastic and not die-cast metal. The saucer section in particular is slightly warped in places. I wouldn't buy this again.

The Star Trek line by Hot Wheels are nice looking collectables . The only problem is that just parts of this ship are die cast metal. Most of it's componants are plastic but it is still very well made. I have been looking to start collecting small scale Star Trek ships for awhile and I purchased a few Furuta , a little pricey and not very well detailed. Also I purchased a few Johnny Lightning , which are very nice but they have discontinued their Star Trek line.So there aren't too many choices out there when looking for items like these and that is why I have to say Hot Wheels has the best small scale Star Trek ships out there, now anyways. I just hope that they don't stop making this line like other manufacturers . There are so many different ships they could come out with and I hope they do. My opinion is if you are a fan of Star Trek like I am and you want some small ships these are the ones to buy.

Nicely detailed, although..

The saucer section is plastic. Unexpected. The warp Engines are plastic as well.. Disappointed there, but its put together quite well. I don't like the fact that I see little dents in the flat part of the saucer on the sides.. It looks like they are from screws on the inside or something..

The secondary hull is metal and it sits tightly in its stand, which has a metal ball on it so you can tilt the model whatever way you want.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Tad bit of a rip-off, August 1, 2011

The image gives the illusion that this is an awesome ship. Being a Trek fan for many many years, I sought out some decent ships. So when seeing this ship as well as the other Hot Wheels ships, I figured I'd start out with this model. When I got the product and took it out of the box, I noticed that it is made of soft, bendable vinyl and the majority of the model is this material, NOT metal. Just a small portion of the body is metal, everything else is soft and bendable. My main complaint is that the nacells and nacell structural supports are also this bendable vinyl, which results in the nacell supports being very warped. If you got this unit, hold the model facing you and look at how out-of-square everything is. Looks like it was crammed into someone's back pocket and bent all over. Looks stupid. I think all these Hot Wheels ships should not cost more than 7 dollars, and only then would I be interested in getting more. That way, one could treat these as throw-around dog toys that represent Star Trek ships. Other than that, I think this ship (and probably the other Hot Wheels Ships) are a tad bit on the rip-off side.

The toy was purchased for a 55 year-old friend birthday who is a fan of Star Trek like me. In a quick review of it, it has many details, the painting is very neat, the weight and the size fits on a main shelf in any living room or desk: all was just as I wanted. My friend was very happy when he received it. Nice gift that I fully recommend to surprise yourself and your friends.

2.0 out of 5 stars Improperly Marked, October 3, 2009

This review is from: Hot Wheels Star Trek USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Refit (Toy)
It seems that Mattel did not do there home work because the package clearly says it is the "USS Enterprise-A" but when you examine the ship itself it is clearly just the "NCC-1701" and not the "A" as they proclaim. I honestly feel this was a deceptive practice and Mattel knew what they were doing. If you haven't noticed yet they have delayed release of the rest of the ships, I am hoping to correct there blunders.
