5.0 out of 5 stars VERY PLEASED
This toy was a last minute purchase for my 5 year old. He loves it. I am pleased with the entire package, eventhough I wasn't crazy about the price at first. It is actually well worth the expense. I would recommend it, it is durable and portable. Also, it doesn't take up much space.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty cool, with one big flaw.
I really want to rate this toy a five... its cool, comes with all the batteries already inserted and ready to go right out of the box, PLUS an extra set of batteries (who does that?)... the big flaw is the treads... I really want to rate this toy a five... its cool, comes with all the batteries already inserted and ready to go right out of the box, PLUS an extra set of batteries (who does that?)... the big flaw is the treads... I can deal with the controls needing to be close and line of sight.. but it rarely goes more than an inch or two before the treads work themselves off their track and jam. Hence it's a 3 at best. Hopefuly the cars are more reliable!

I tried the Hot Wheels Stealth Ride Chromium tank. I was hoping that it would be able to handle carpets but was disappointed as the treads come off if you try to make a turn on a carpet. It will handle fine on solid hard surfaces including DVD cases and thin hardcovers but any soft ones like carpets or sofas will pose a problem. Speed is on the slow side so the main excitement will be watching it tackle obstacle courses and such. The one I got also had trouble locking into the flat position. Ultimately, I went ahead and returned it.

Bought this for my nephew who is 6. He loves it and still plays with it when most of his other toys from Christmas are already forgotten.

This is a cute idea for boys! They just love things in their pockets and what better than a remote control Hot Wheels?

When my husband and I saw these we knew we had to get one for our now 10 year old son. He loves technology, and Hot Wheels, so this was definitely a no-brainer. We'd read the reviews and had read of a few people who said they had an issue with the treads, or with getting it to close, but at the price we decided to take a shot.

And are we glad that we did! For his birthday yesterday he got four toys - one of them was this one and another was the Sonic game he'd been begging to have for over two weeks. Guess which toy got played with more? THIS ONE!

THE PROS:

- It's small. If your child has a bedroom that is already clogged with toys, you can take heart in knowing that this one is so small that you could fit it into your shirt pocket. Slide it into a desk drawer or put it on top of a bureau and it'll fit perfectly.

- The battery. I LOVE that it comes with the tiny batteries, and that Hot Wheels gives you three extra ones! Any toy company that actually gives you batteries, especially this time of year, is a great company in my book.

- The climbing! This thing can go over tons of stuff! We pulled out a DVD case and it easily drove over that. We made an obstacle course with a bunch of things for it to climb and it did it no problem. I love that my son is already thinking about the obstacle courses he can make to challenge it.

- The range. I don't know who said you have to be really close to get it to work, but if you've got a clear line of sight, this puppy works over 20 feet away - in fact we got it to almost 30 feet before the controller was unable to connect with the vehicle.

- Turns on a dime. Yup, just like a real tank. That I didn't know about and was very impressed with. I think I have more fun turning it around than driving it forwards (when he lets me play with it, that is).

- Easy to use controls. You don't have a gazillion controls to use, only two. Push both buttons forward or backwards, and it goes forwards or backwards. Push one up or down, and it spins to the left or right (depending on which button you push).

CONS:

- The treads. Yes, the treads can occasionally come off. But we found that the only time they tended to come off was when he was taking it in or out of the controller/case. Once you've got it going, the tread tends to stay on. The reason I "con" this is because I wish they gave us extra treads to put on the vehicle, so that if (more like when) these ones become clogged with dirt or hair, we can replace them easily.

- Pushing it down. It takes a few minutes to figure out how to push down the vehicle to get it into the controller. All I can say is READ THE DIRECTIONS. Push the vehicle down exactly in the same direction as you see in the vehicle, with your finger on the same spot, and you'll hear a click. You do have to push fairly hard, but once you get it, you've got it.

So, all in all, the pros FAR outweigh the cons, and the cons can be overcome when you have experience with it. We're definitely all happy that we took a chance on this vehicle and now my husband wants one to play with too!!

I saw this toy at [...]. I had to purchase it, even with its high price. It can climb over 1" cds and books. Folding flat is easy after the first time. Slips right into your pocket. Would definantly recommend.

I bought both the Stealth Rides Power Tread and the car version for my 6 year old son.
He loves them both! Power Tread for climbing stuff on his table and the car for speed and one He carries in his pocket and takes it everywhere he goes.
Finally - something that moves him off his PC.
I'm glad it comes with an extra set of batteries battery- big plus!
Great toy!

Great idea, bad design. this little guy will go in a straight line but the second you try and turn the tracks will slip off. Keep your money till they fix this.

This item broke while being removed from the manufacturer packaging. Not the desired result for a Christmas present. Why are things made so badly that an adult who is being careful can break a toy made for a child to handle? I really don't recommend this product.
