Great early reader for car-obsessed boys!,

My almost 5 year old son is learning to read rapidly, but there are so few books which he enjoys AND can read well. He was highly motivated to read Wheels, as he adores vehicles of all kinds. The format is very simple (1-2 short sentences per page)and includes plenty of long and short vowel words, as well as "oo" sounds and "igh" sounds. Hardly any words with 2 syllables.

A lively fast paced fun read for short attention spans,

I checked this book out at the library and my two year old has me read it to him at least 5 times in a row before he will let me stop. This is the first book he has shown an interest in other than ripping the pages on Green Eggs and Ham. The illustrations are bright and colorful, showing things that little ones are interested in, with only short phrases that make the pace fast and keep those pages turning. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a child fascinated with moving vehicles.

This book is perfect for the child who is learning their letters and wants to READ. The word WHEELS is on every page. After reading this book a few times, your child will be able to pick the word WHEELS out. Great fun! Great confidence builder! Great sing-song wording!

My 5 year old son has read this book 3 times so far on my Kindle. There are some formatting issues with the Kindle in that there are blank pages and that kind of threw him when he was paging through reading. Other than that small snag, the sight words are good, the book isn't too long so that he lost interest, the pictures are well-done, and it's interesting to boot!

Great for small children and kids just starting to read!,
This review is from: Wheels! (Step-Into-Reading, Step 1) (Paperback)
This is my son's favorite book. He is two and this book was the first one that he actually asked my mom and I to read to him. Since then I think we have read it atleast a thousand times. I actually know all of the words by heart now. Its starting to look a little worn out so I might have to buy a new copy but it is so worth it. Since my son likes anything with wheels this book is perfect for him and the fact that it is short with just a few words and rhymes is perfect for his age. The pictures are great and he loves to point out all the things in the book that he knows like "boat", "tractor", "airplane", etc. The best part is that now he actually participates when I read it. He always yells "wheels!" when that word comes up in the book. For 3.99 this book is a fantastic bargain and I highly recomend it!

A book my son grabs all the time!,
This review is from: Wheels! (Step-Into-Reading, Step 1) (Paperback)
My son (33 months) doesn't care about too many toys but if there's wheels involved, he's alert! So I knew this book would have a good chance with him. He loves this book and wants it reread multiple times a day. Thankfully, it's colorful, repetitive, and intriguing. It has 32 pages and my son's favorite part is page 30-31: "What if there were NO wheels?" He won't let me turn the page and is very concerned there's NO wheels on the cars and trucks! He's already memorized a few lines in the book and just loves it.
When it comes time to actually read, I am sure this will be a favorite. I wish there were more wheel books like this one. It's also nice to see unbranded Step Into Reading books, not based on a movie/character. It's a simple, sweet book! And a great price. He just said himself "I like book". :-)

Wheels by Annie Cobb,
This review is from: Wheels! (Step-Into-Reading, Step 1) (Hardcover)
This was a terrible purchase from Woodysbooks...the book came rate "Good" but whomever rated it must have had his/her good eye closed. The book rates a "poor" at least..the book was intended as a Christmas gift for my grandson, however,in light of the poor condition of the book I cannot in good conscious give such a piece of junk to him. BUYER BE WEAR!!!
