EOS are very "Opeth" like and this compilation is impressive. I would recommend it highly for anyone that is a fan of Melodic Death Metal. Now, if you more into Nile, Behemoth or other pure crushers you may find this a bit weak. Damn well worth the price considering you get a greatest hits (hand picked by the fans no less) AND 2 full albums on Disc 2. Not to mention... CRIMSON which is unbelieveable. CRIMSON II is excellent in its own right. If you are into Opeth you will probably like this.

I will say it does get old quick on repeat listens however.

When All Is Said is the first true "greatest hits" package from Swedish death metal legends Edge of Sanity. Housed in a deluxe gatefold digipack, When All Is Said is a comprehensive look at the influential band's career.

Disc 1 features 14 classic Edge of Sanity songs ranging from the brutal death metal of the early albums to the more melodic later work. The songs have all been digitally remastered by Dan Swano, which may entice some longtime EOS fans who already have the band's studio albums. Swano also provided detailed liner notes for this release.

Disc 2 contains the full Crimson and Crimson II albums. Great, right? Well, not really. Both albums are here in their entirety, but instead of the original 40-minute "Crimson" song and the nine songs from Crimson II, there are 99 tiny (18-second to 1:29 minute) fragments. There aren't any breaks between them, so it sounds OK, but you can't add the full songs to your MP3 player in any real way. There's just no reason for this, so it costs the set a star for sure.

Crimson issues aside, When All Is Said is still an impressive collection of melodic death metal from one of the best bands in the genre. I'd definitely recommend it to people unfamiliar with Edge of Sanity as well as fans looking for a great sounding upgrade of some classic EOS songs.
