4.0 out of 5 stars By any other name...
Released under The Dogs D'Amour moniker, "When Bastards Go to Hell" is more in the vein of a Tyla solo work -- dark, brooding, moody and from the heart. The sound is stripped down and raw, which makes it a true joy in an era when most music is over-produced to the nth degree. What more is needed for a good song beyond a voice, a guitar and a story to tell? And when that...

2.0 out of 5 stars NO EXCUSE!
THE LATEST RELEASE FROM THE DOGS D'AMOUR, "WHEN BASTARDS GO TO HELL", FINDS SINGER, SONGWRITER, GUITARIST TYLA GOING IT ALONE. TYLA'S WORK OBVIOUSLY SUFFERS OUTSIDE THE BAND SITUATION. "WHEN BASTARDS GO TO HELL" IS MORE IN LINE WITH HIS MEANDERING, SELF INDULGENT SOLO WORK. I ASSUME THE DOGS D'AMOUR NAME WAS USED TO SELL A FEW MORE COPIES OF WHAT ESSENTIALLY IS A TYLA...

And when that storyteller is Tyla, the results are fantastic. Whether you credit it to The Dogs D'Amour or to Tyla as a solo artist, "When Bastards Go to Hell" is a helluva good disc.

I ASSUME THE DOGS D'AMOUR NAME WAS USED TO SELL A FEW MORE COPIES OF WHAT ESSENTIALLY IS A TYLA SOLO ALBUM. NOT ONLY ARE THE SONGS WEAK BUT THE PRODUCTION IS HORRENDOUS. THE SOUND IS MUDDY AND THE CASIO DRUM LOOPS ARE RIDICULOUS. WITH TODAYS TECHNOLOGY AND A LITTLE COMMON SENSE THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR BAD RECORDINGS. THIS C.D. SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS RECORDED IN A BASEMENT ON A EIGHT TRACK RECORDER. I GAVE TWO STARS BECAUSE THE PACKAGING AND ARTWORK ARE EXCELLENT AND IF YOU CAN GET PAST THE DEMO QUALITY RECORDINGS, SOME OF THE SONGS ARE O.K. IF YOU ARE A FAN LIKE ME, YOU ARE GOING TO BUY "WHEN BASTARDS GO TO HELL" ANYWAY, BUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CHECKING OUT THE DOGS D'AMOUR I WOULD RECOMEND ANY OF THEIR PREVIOUS ALBUMS.
