3.0 out of 5 stars Meh
I give this one a 2.5, which is halfway. It isnt incredible, it isnt the worst thing I've ever heard. Its ok. There isnt anything origional, and thats ok. THey still help define the genre, somewhat. His screaming can sound incredibly forced at times, breaking up and crackling. Not attractive when you sound like a cat. Ive seen them a few times, and enjoyed their...

Oh, before i start, this is to the Review Under me, "When Broken is Easily Fixed" is referring to the Robots heart, get it, Someone broke the Robots heart, but since its a machine its easily fixed.

Anyway, this album is really good for 4 songs, Smashed Into Peices, Red Light Pledge, Giving Up, and Bleeds no More. All of these songs completely blew me away the first time I heard them.

This album may have its share of filler, but for some reason i just cant stop listening to it...

This is a really good album whoever said it was released last year as Silence In Black and White was an idiot this was released almost a year before Hawthorne Heights first full length. I really enjoy this cd

November: 9/10 "I can see it in your eyes. You're broken down; your hands are tied"

Last days of summer: 8/10 "This gaping hole in my chest is filled with deceit"

Bleeds no more: 9/10 "Your stomach feels sick for someone else"

Hear me out: 8/10 "Now that you left. Make me feel like I'm gone"

The weak and the wounded: 9/10 "Struggle till the end. I scare myself"

Wish I could forget you: 7/10 "Its getting too late and its time to move on"

When broken is easily fixed: 10/10 "Emotion conquers my soul robs me of myself"

4.0 out of 5 stars Rookie CD Review, January 2, 2006
I (like most others) heard of this band through the sample CD from the Taking Back Sunday, Tell All Your Friends. The first hit, "Smashed to Pieces", caught me by surprise and I immediatly went and bought the CD. Along with "Smashed to Pieces", "Giving Up" and "November" are the best tracks on the CD. The riffs are heavy and are not like other whiny emo and screamo bands. The screaming gets a little heavy at times, but the way the singer goes back and forth between melodic vocals and screaming is quite remarkable. If you don't like screaming, you won't like this CD, but if you don't mind a little you will definitly enjoy this CD, and I recommend buying it. It will be interesting to see if they stick with the same sound for their next album or change it up to appeal to more audiences.

5.0 out of 5 stars SILVERSTEIN, June 19, 2004
By A Customer
Let me start out by saying that Silverstein is one of the best bands i've ever heard. when i first heard their song red light pledge i was blown away the lyrics are so truthful and meaningful. i had to find out more about these guys so i bought their cd and i was hooked ever since. I'm not a very big fan of screamo music but i like the fact that Silverstein just has bits and peices of screaming in every song and that makes it cool. i dont know if you have noticed but every one of their songs is written like poetry and filled with so much emotion they don't just write a song they put their heart and soul into it. It's a great cd to listen to if you are depressed or if you got dumped. My favorite song on the cd is smash into peices and i wish i could forget you. If you haven't checked these guys out yet well i reccomend you do cuz you'll love them

4.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasent Surprise, March 7, 2006
By
It took some time, but eventually I came to love this album. Like a lot of people I was thrown off by the screaming, but eventually I realized that this screaming derived from true pain. There is so much raw, intense, emotion on this album, any true, intelligent music fan could not help but enjoy it. I love every song on this album. It is very mature and original, especially when compared to a lot of bands trying to do the same thing. The only thing I don't like about this album is all the breakdowns. I think it actually takes away from the music but that's just me. It is nothing that can't be overlooked because this is truely a great album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Appealing to a different audience?, December 17, 2005

I first heard Silverstein on a fearless/victory compilation that came with the "Punk Goes Acoustic" cd. It included "Giving Up" that has unique timing and an emo/pop/punk sound that reaches out to non-screamo listeners. A few songs are more screamo than I'd like, but the songs are catchy, the guitar is decent, and the vocal melodies are well-chosen and placed.

After hearing the whole cd, I'd say it's like Get Up Kids meet Finch plus a little extra screamo. But I don't mind screaming now and then! 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emocore/Hardcore for the masses, June 18, 2003
Silverstein is a great new band off Victory Records. Their sound is originall in the sence that the Scream vocals are AMAZING and the clean vocals convey alot of emotion. If you like most Victory Records bands then you'll deffinitly enjoy this one. If your new to the type of music then this is a great starter band or if your just searching for something new. My only complaint is that every song was in 6/8 it seemed. This was an easily overcome obstical after listening to the songs themselves. So if your a fan of Taking Back Sunday, Saves The Day, Thursday, Early November, Adara, Dead Poetic, or Beloved you will most deffinitly enjoy this cd.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great music. Awful sound quality., March 1, 2008
As far as the music goes, I agree with the other two reviews: the music is great. It is all the awesomeness you've come to expect from Silverstein. But since no one else has mentioned the sound quality, I feel like I should.

This CD has shockingly poor sound quality. The whole album is full of bizarre clicks and pops that make listening to it nearly intolerable. I've gotten free garage band demos that sound more professionally produced and recorded than this CD. Quite frankly, Victory Records should be embarrassed. I'm tempted to write and ask them for a partial refund.

Lest you think I'm overreacting, try downloading "Red Light Pledge" and listening to the first 25 seconds. You'll count no fewer than 3 extraneous clicks/pops and there are even more scattered throughout the rest of the song. The remainder of the album suffers from similar problems. (And no, my CD is not scratched or damaged. I just got it brand-new from Amazon and even on the first play, was horrified by the sound quality.)

So, to reiterate, the music itself is awesome, but that's only if you can get past the frequent clicks/pops and not throw the CD out of your car window in a fit of rage.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Screamo/emocore album ever!!!, May 30, 2006
Let me just start off by saying, this album is second to none, this album is soooooooo!!! good, alot better than 'DTWF'. I cant say I am a big fan of emo, but this is my second favorite album ever, just after IKSSE from Coheed and Cambria.

Most of you would like songs like 'giving Up', "Smashed into peices' and 'November', and then buy the album and expect to like the oter songs just as much the first listen, and when you don't, you say the album only has three songs!

Those three arent under my top five songs on the album. This album takes time to like, if you don't like to put effort into liking an album... whel I feel sorry for you, you are missing out on alot.

I live in South-Africa, so the album costs twice as much, and I have the risk of it being stolen before it gets delivered to me. But I took the risk, and I go to sleep, wake up and work on this album.

Every Track on here gets 10/10, it simply rocks.
I dont know why the band went to a more mellow sound in 'DTWF', maybe they cant play all this powerful music live.

Do yourself a favour and buy the album!
