"When it comes to delivering sexy and sensual romance, author Lori Foster is in a class by herself."

About the Author

Lori Foster is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of many contemporary romances.

More About the Author

Since first publishing in January 1996, Lori Foster has become a USA Today, Publisher's Weekly and New York Times bestselling author. Lori has published through a variety of houses, including Kensington, St. Martin's, Berkley, Silhouette and Samhain. She is currently with Harlequin.

Lori believes it's important to give back to the community as much as possible, and for that reason she ran special contests in conjunction with a publisher, facilitating many first sales for new authors. She routinely organizes events among authors and readers to gather donations for various organizations.

Lori hosts a very special annual "Reader & Author" event in West Chester, Ohio. Proceeds from the event have benefited many worthy causes, including the Hamilton County YWCA Battered Women's Shelter, the Animal Adoption Foundation, The Conductive Learning Center for children with spina bifida and cerebral palsy, and The One Way Farm, Children's Home.

In 2007, Lori put together The Write Ingredients a cookbook of recipes donated by popular authors. Proceeds from the cookbook go toward Lori's ongoing "Troop project" of collecting and mailing fun, and sometimes necessary, items to our troops.

In 2008, Lori coordinated with other authors of her choosing, and through Berkley, arranged for the publication of The Power of Love, a special romance anthology of novellas about empowering women. All author and agent proceeds from the anthology go to the Hamilton Co YWCA Battered women's shelter.

In 2009, Tails of Love, another romance anthology with Lori and other contributing authors, was published through Berkley with all agent and author proceeds to benefit The Animal Adoption Foundation.

In 2010, The Gift of Love romance anthology, with Lori and other contributing authors, was published with proceeds to benefit The Conductive Learning Center, a school for children with cerebral palsy and spina bifida.

In 2011, The Promise of Love, a romance anthology with Lori and other contributing authors, will be published with proceeds to benefit the One Way Farm, a home for abused and abandoned children.

In 2012, Love Bites, a romance anthology with Lori and other contributing authors, was published with all agent and author proceeds to benefit The Animal Adoption Foundation.

In 2013, Animal Attraction, a romance anthology that goes with the "Buckhorn Brothers" series, with Lori and other contributing authors, was published with all agent and author proceeds to benefit The Animal Adoption Foundation.

Lori has received many prestigious awards, including:

Romantic Times "Career Achievement Award" for:
Series Romantic Fantasy

Walendenbooks:
Say No To Joe - second "Bestselling Original Contemporary"

Borders Group Inc.:
The Secret Life of Bryan - "Bestselling Original Contemporary" romance title
Jude's Law - "Bestselling Romantic Comedy" romance title

Great love story, great romance...great story.

Ms. Foster has taken a touchy subject and written an endearing love story in which the secondary characters make an equally strong impact on the story.

I love Lori Fosters books I've read almost all of them.

At first I was not sure I was going to like this book. Why you ask after all it's Lori? Truth was I was not sure I was going to be able see Cynthia and Bruce together but...I had nothing to fear. Ms. Foster managed to make be believe that these two very, very different people were able to fall in love.

As stated by a previous reviewer Ms. Foster's trademark sesuality was toned down a bit. Cyn is an ex-prostitute and Bruce is a preacher. Cyn has come from a very abusive life and Bruce is just the man to help her make a new life for herself. Ms. Foster was true to her character's and this has been my favorite out of the series so far.

We get to see Joe and Luna as well as Shay and Bryan again when we visit Visitation. Jamie Creed is also very much active in this story and as a result this was a great page turner that I took on the road with me to Poland. I highly recommend Ms. Foster. You will never be let down by this author and I look forward to the next in this series.

Based on my (admittedly limited) previous experience with Lori Foster's books, I was expecting another light-hearted and funny basic chick-lit story. Wow - did this book deliver so much more than that, with a deep story of substance!

Cyn admirably escapes a childhood of neglect and abuse by running away at age 17. She survives the next five years supporting herself the only way she knows how - by selling her body. With fierce determination, she saves enough money within 5 years to move to small-town North Carolina and reinvent herself, find an honest job, become a productive member of society, make friends and fall in love with the town's understanding and nonjudgmental preacher. Her relationship with Bruce is threatened because it's difficult for her to trust any man, and she feels unworthy of the love of a good man. Cyn's abuser eventually catches up with her, and starts stalkin, threatening and tormenting her. With the love and support of Bruce, and the protection of the entire community, including a mysterious clairvoyant character, Cyn finally finds safety and much deserved happiness.

Generally, I've never read a Lori Foster book I didn't like, some are better than others but they all have a great spark between the couples and Bruce and Cyn are no different.

Cyn is a woman running from a tragic secret who's decided to give up her life as a hooker and head to Visitation to start her new, clean life.

She meets Bruce (who we meet in Secret Life of Brian), a preacher who saves her from an altercation with an angry trucker.

Immediately there are sparks but what makes this book so wonderful is that instead of rushing into the sexy heat that Foster does so well, the chemistry builds slowly, both because Bruce is a preacher and because he respects and understands that Cyn's past dictates that he take things slow with her.

The drama was good, we saw all of the great citizens of Visitation again and Foster delivers a story that is sexy and funny and sweet.

Cyn Potter is an ex-hooker who's looking to better her life. What better place than Visitation, the place that calls to her in her dreams?
Bruce Kelly, on his way back to Visitation, is a preacher who loves to help others, and when he sees Cyn Potter being treated roughly by a truck driver at a truck stop, his protective instincts kick in.
Once the matter is resolved, Cyn reluctantly agrees to accompany Bruce on his way home. She's confused by his honorable intentions, having never been treated well by men, and he's smitten with the spirited young woman who's determined to make it on her own.
As they get to know each other, it becomes obvious to everyone but them how perfect they really are for each other. Cyn doesn't think she deserves such goodness in her life, and Bruce is afraid to take advantage of her, as she'd been so many times in her young life. But their attraction is overwhelming, and hints at the love that can bring them the happiness they both deserve.
However Cyn's past is catching up with her, and with a firm warning from the mysterious Jamie Creed, Cyn knows she must face it before she can truly get past it. Only now she doesn't have to do it alone.
Fans will adore Bruce & Cyn, who bring tears to your eyes with their sweet, sexy romance, and enjoy revisiting the citizens of Visitation while longing for Jamie's own story. Another winner from the wonderful Lori Foster!

I'm astonished that so many people love this book, although maybe if I'd known less about child abuse and prostitution, I would have enjoyed it, too. I generally find Lori Foster's books entertaining. But the whole hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold-and-remarkable-self-esteem motif is not only trite and unrealistic, it's passe. I think romance novels (especially the short ones like this) are precisely the wrong place to deal with such complex issues as a primary plot. It's hard enough to do in a work of dramatic fiction. And in the many years I've been reading this genre, I have never seen an author get it right. Either she glosses over the whole thing, as here, or attempts a more realistic portrayal which saps the romance right out of the story.

The first book about Bruce and Bryan wasn't quite as bad as this one, because the prostitutes were secondary characters, and Foster didn't delve into their psyches. But I can't tell you how many times I put this book down in horror (and even amusement) at the pop-psychology psychobabble that proxied for actual recovery. Please! The premise of even the most fantastic story needs to be believable on a fundamental level. For example (and I'm nitpicking here), this supposedly gorgeous girl starts hooking at age 17, gets effortlessly out of the game at around 22. In 5 years she has never gotten into any trouble (ie. never run afoul of a pimp), has managed to remain relatively nonchalant and well-adjusted, and--get this--has only saved about $2,000 in 5 years!! Supposedly, she was only hooking in the first place to save money, and it's not as if she were living in a city with a high cost of living. She must be the cheapest hooker in the world--which would make her clientele rather--e[...] She may as well have taken a respectable job as a waitress!
