5.0 out of 5 stars an amazing story of survival and healing, against all odds.
Based on my (admittedly limited) previous experience with Lori Foster's books, I was expecting another light-hearted and funny basic chick-lit story. Wow - did this book deliver so much more than that, with a deep story of substance!

I loved this series, until this book. I don't understand what people found amazing about it.
It's so unrealistic!!! A 35 years old preacher falls for a 22 year old prostitute, who has been off the streets for one day.
She was honest, well spoken, didn't have a drug problem, was sweet and worked for herself. If that was the case why wasn't she working some other...

Based on my (admittedly limited) previous experience with Lori Foster's books, I was expecting another light-hearted and funny basic chick-lit story. Wow - did this book deliver so much more than that, with a deep story of substance!

Cyn admirably escapes a childhood of neglect and abuse by running away at age 17. She survives the next five years supporting herself the only way she knows how - by selling her body. With fierce determination, she saves enough money within 5 years to move to small-town North Carolina and reinvent herself, find an honest job, become a productive member of society, make friends and fall in love with the town's understanding and nonjudgmental preacher. Her relationship with Bruce is threatened because it's difficult for her to trust any man, and she feels unworthy of the love of a good man. Cyn's abuser eventually catches up with her, and starts stalkin, threatening and tormenting her. With the love and support of Bruce, and the protection of the entire community, including a mysterious clairvoyant character, Cyn finally finds safety and much deserved happiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars You're In For A Treat!!!, July 27, 2004
At first I was not sure I was going to like this book. Why you ask after all it's Lori? Truth was I was not sure I was going to be able see Cynthia and Bruce together but...I had nothing to fear. Ms. Foster managed to make be believe that these two very, very different people were able to fall in love.

As stated by a previous reviewer Ms. Foster's trademark sesuality was toned down a bit. Cyn is an ex-prostitute and Bruce is a preacher. Cyn has come from a very abusive life and Bruce is just the man to help her make a new life for herself. Ms. Foster was true to her character's and this has been my favorite out of the series so far.

We get to see Joe and Luna as well as Shay and Bryan again when we visit Visitation. Jamie Creed is also very much active in this story and as a result this was a great page turner that I took on the road with me to Poland. I highly recommend Ms. Foster. You will never be let down by this author and I look forward to the next in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner from Foster, August 26, 2004
Generally, I've never read a Lori Foster book I didn't like, some are better than others but they all have a great spark between the couples and Bruce and Cyn are no different.

Cyn is a woman running from a tragic secret who's decided to give up her life as a hooker and head to Visitation to start her new, clean life.

She meets Bruce (who we meet in Secret Life of Brian), a preacher who saves her from an altercation with an angry trucker.

Immediately there are sparks but what makes this book so wonderful is that instead of rushing into the sexy heat that Foster does so well, the chemistry builds slowly, both because Bruce is a preacher and because he respects and understands that Cyn's past dictates that he take things slow with her.

The drama was good, we saw all of the great citizens of Visitation again and Foster delivers a story that is sexy and funny and sweet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Lori Foster!, August 26, 2004

Finally, we get Bruce's story. This book is one of a series but can be ready by itself. In Bruce's story, we watch him try to win over Cyn with love and patience. Cyn has had a hard life and it takes someone as special as Bruce to win her love. I loved this book! Lori Foster did a great job with resolving the issues that were keeping the characters apart. The book was a delight to read. I'll be sorry when this series ends, they have all been great stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet, Sexy story! Loved It!, July 5, 2004
Cyn Potter is an ex-hooker who's looking to better her life. What better place than Visitation, the place that calls to her in her dreams?

Bruce Kelly, on his way back to Visitation, is a preacher who loves to help others, and when he sees Cyn Potter being treated roughly by a truck driver at a truck stop, his protective instincts kick in.

Once the matter is resolved, Cyn reluctantly agrees to accompany Bruce on his way home. She's confused by his honorable intentions, having never been treated well by men, and he's smitten with the spirited young woman who's determined to make it on her own.

As they get to know each other, it becomes obvious to everyone but them how perfect they really are for each other. Cyn doesn't think she deserves such goodness in her life, and Bruce is afraid to take advantage of her, as she'd been so many times in her young life. But their attraction is overwhelming, and hints at the love that can bring them the happiness they both deserve.

However Cyn's past is catching up with her, and with a firm warning from the mysterious Jamie Creed, Cyn knows she must face it before she can truly get past it. Only now she doesn't have to do it alone.

Fans will adore Bruce & Cyn, who bring tears to your eyes with their sweet, sexy romance, and enjoy revisiting the citizens of Visitation while longing for Jamie's own story. Another winner from the wonderful Lori Foster!

Another Winner !!!
What happens when an ex-hooker and a preacher meet in a truck stop in the night? With Lori Foster as the author you know it?s got to be good. And I was not disappointed. Bruce is the twin brother of Bryan from The Secret Life of Bryan. The heat was there as in all of Lori?s stories, but this one was just a little different. This book has a little bit of everything- mystery, romance, and suspense. It has jumped right to the top of my favorite Lori Fosters books. And very near to top of all romance/suspense books on my favorite list. If you a fan of Lori Foster?s books you will enjoy the trip back to Visitation N.C. and revisit Joe and Luna from Say No to Joe? Bryan and Shay from the Secret Life of Bryan. Of course there is Jamie Creed.

Lori Foster know how to make you want revisit Visitation again and again.

If that was the case why wasn't she working some other job for five years?
The point is this, a real prostitute has many reasons why she can't get out of that life, even if they want to.
This book's description of the life of a prostitue was horrible.
Also, I found Cyn extremely ungrateful at times. People were trying to help her, such as Shay, and she acted horrible.
I just could not understand why Bruce fell for her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this Book, July 9, 2004

Lori Foster is the best Romance writer and this book is part of my favorite of her series. I liked the unexpected twist the story takes towards the end, because it doesn't progress as the reader expects. You will love Bruce and root for Cyn and remember them long after the last page is read. And oh boy are we in for more stories in this series: Julie, Scott and Jamie are sure to fill the pages of the next several books. I love that Lori brings characters from the previous stories back so that we continue to be part of their lives. I can't wait until Lori tackles Jamie's story but on the way the others should be great. As with all her series, I will certainly miss the characters when the final book is written.
