Having been raised myself in a Pentecostal "God is everything" home, I find this show to be quite honest about how emotionally and psychologically confining these home environments are for these young people. As a retired adolescent counselor I worry for children from such restrictive homes; as the probability is high that most find some type of rebellion, in order to create a self identity. I am encouraged to help my teenage boys find the right balance between responsible choices and enjoying their youth.

The first season was better than the second because of the Perry family!

Being myself a 16 year old pastor's daughter, I found this show appalling. I was excited to see how girls in a situation like me would take it but what I saw for the most part was a little disgraceful. This show was taken from a totally non Christian view point that makes Christians out to be legalistic idiots. Yes, the parents seem harsh but my parents raising me and my sisters said a lot of the same stuff and when you put context with it, it was completely agreeable. I was really just wishing that in this case Hollywood wouldn't have influenced the show or actors and maybe for once God would be placed a little more center in the show.

This is reality when you do not ask GOD for balance in life. Young people will always be young people. Keep up and be there when they want to go places and do things. If not, the second they are old enough, they go wild. Teach them the value of time and money, or else they will do whatever they have to do to maintain the nice clothes, gadgets and reputation. Most importantly, let young children experience the presence of GOD. HE will speak to them one on one and encourage them to get their education, to forgive and to have empathy and compassion. HE will also let them know when there is danger and what to do. They will not go to far but come back to GOD. Parents love each other and place your marriage in GOD's hands. It is not the will of GOD for ministers of the gospel to burn out trying to be JESUS. You must have balance, including fun with spouse and children. Learn to ask GOD who to trust and stay home a Sunday or two and worship with your family and do something peaceful and stressless. Pastors must chase after the presence of GOD and not put on masks for the people. They belong to him. Take care of your family and enjoy the life GOD gave you. In HIS presence there is fullness of joy. I'm checking out season two also.

Although some Christians may feel that the show misrepresents Christianity, I found it to be a quite accurate portrayal of much of my experience with the practical implications of Evangelical Christian worldview. It definitely sparked some good conversations for my husband and me, as well as being entertaining. It is interesting to see three different "types" of Christianity juxtaposed, and to see how these paradigms affect the lives of those who live in them.

A warning for parents: some of the episodes (particularly the first one) contain some graphic references to s*x that may be inappropriate for young children, even though the people in the show are decidedly pro-"abstinence-till-marriage". I didn't think anything of it when I watched the season the first time, but the other night we watched an episode with some friends of ours, and I felt like I had to apologize for showing it in front of their 8-year-old daughter.

My heart goes out to these poor girls, this is either really pathetic and are the type of girls that end up on that show snapped cause they are in protective bubbles that will, as we all know, eventually get burst in one way or another in the real world, or this is just a fake reality show. I am hoping it is the latter because a parent that scares their children and tells them that all relationships will end in heartbreak will make them fulfill that prophecy - ever hear the saying whether you think you can or you can, your right - or telling their child no kissing before marriage - seriously? This was very disturbing and I gave it 5 starts because someone is a genius for finding these people if they are for real!

The 10 or so minutes I watched were laughable. I'm not even Christian and found this to be blatant, biased garbage, meant to make them [christians] out as buffoons. I don't care either way, but it's old, predictable and like every other show...poorly staged. This particularly irks me because had an Islamic or Jewish family been presented in the same manner..... wow! The show would be popular for sure. And not in a good way.

Disturbing, alarming and sobering as a Preacher I can sadly relate to this film, heart breaking. Children are fruit, parent are roots, there is no disconnect between teen choices and the condition and environment they open themselves to, In and out of the home. it seemed a little scripted and yet realistic.
