5.0 out of 5 stars Want to save some green? Then go green and save energy in and around the home and car..., December 10, 2009
This review is from: When Changing a Lightbulb Just Isn't Enough: 150 Ways to Slash Your Household Bills & Save Energy, Too (Popular Mechanics) (Hardcover)
Well-designed spiral-bound book encased in a hardcover -- so it will lay flat -- that is full of small, easy-to-handle energy-related weekend projects for the handyman/woman of the family.

Each project is described with numbered steps, illustrations and narrative descriptions of what to look for. The "Quick Fix" tips are particularly helpful and the "bottom line" "Cost, Monthly Savings and Papyback" analyses serve as good encouragement for readers to take-on and complete the project.

The book is divided into six sections:
(1) Save Resources, Save Money
(2) The Great Indoors
(3) The Exterior of Your Home
(4) Money-Saving Home Improvements
(5) On the Move Car Care
(6) Gadgets and Gigabytes

Ranging from simple advice such as pulling the shades, using cooling and heating zones in your house, installing an attic fan, covering ac/heat ductwork, installing weather-stripping, and then on to more advanced topics sich as dealing with water heaters, appliances, toxic mold, and lead paint. Then, the authors then go on to cover the exterior of the house with energy efficient roofing and siding, landscaping, planting shade trees, composting, and, putting in new windows. As an added bonus, they go on to car care tips on how to save on gas, oil and tires, lights, belts, filters, etc., and so forth. There's a lot to consider doing !

Readers with an interest will be fascinated and appreciative of this book. Highly recommended for public libraries and makes for a great gift for your favorite handyman/woman!
