The magic world of pro choice, December 21, 2008
This review is from: When Choice Becomes God (Paperback)
This is the best book that I have read on the subject if you want to understand how we cameto the point where we pretend that abortion, esp a few months along, is somehow not infanticide. This book has helped change the minds of many of my friends on the subject, including myself. Without becoming mean-spirited, as is the case in so many of the books on both sides of this debate, the author shows through logic, science and history just how odd it is that the pro-abortion position still maintains legal standing in our nation. Hiding behind the language of choice, and not logic or science, the left has accomplished its goal of placing individual pseudo-happiness above human rights. Minority groups beware if this sort of logic takes hold during times of war.

A Killing Choice, February 4, 2012
This review is from: When Choice Becomes God (Paperback)
Smith's When Choice Becomes God doesn't really give arguments against abortion. Rather, it is a popular analysis of the modern cult of choice. Our generation of choice believes people have the right to choose their financial lifestyles as well as their moral ones. Individualism has destroyed the moral fabric of our culture. It is a generation of responsibility without accountability. Smith blames many sociological roots for this modern malaise: the world wars, automobiles, increased communication, credit, the pill, body consciousness, civil rights, Deweyian educational philosophy in the classroom, therapy as religion, divorce choice, and biblical illiteracy.
"Having no grand vision of what life is all about we are reduced to making ad hoc decisions based on opinion polls, media propaganda, or unabashed self-interest" (p. 34). Religious morals are repeatedly excluded from both the media and our public schools. In its place, feminist ideology which devalues both women and children, and environmental politics which elevate the value of animals over people have been preached from the mountain tops. Darwinist evolution promotes survival of the fittest as the new ethic. Our culture believes that we should sacrifice life at the altar of our lifestyle. Smith's treatise rings true as Christians stand back in amazement at a world which now routinely kills its own children.
